So I have a resort reservation (renting through DVC) now I was gonna buy tickets through the disney world site. When I called disney the cm told me something about if I buy the tickets through the website they'll be on willcall but if I link to the resort reservation I can book fastpass at 60days out. Can someone explain this? Will I not be able to book fastpasses in advance?

We are DVC members and have annual passes. On our last trip, my in-laws came with.

We purchased their tickets on the WDW site with will call pick-up. You get a confirmation number. On the MDE "Reservations & Tickets" area, click to link tickets. After entering the confirmation number, you choose who is assigned to each ticket.

When that is done, you will be able to make your advance FP+ reservations.

Yep, what ElizabethG said.

I did this for my 2014 trip and as I recall, when you go on your MDE account to link tickets, there is a drop-down box to specify whether you are entering a ticket # (the # off a physical ticket) or a will-call confirmation #. (Someone correct me if I've misremembered.) Once that's done, you're good to book FP+ when your window opens.

When I got to WDW, I did have to go to Guest Relations (went to the window outside Epcot) to get my will-call "ticket" activated on my MB (it didn't take long).

You do actually have to get it "activated" at GR when using the will call option? I was told by the CM on the phone that I wouldn't have to do that. I asked that question specifically twice, and she assured me that because they were linked to our resort reservation, we wouldn't have to deal with GR and that they would work fine as soon as we arrive. Not true? Ugh. I love when CMs give out wrong info.

From my experience, if you are purchasing the tickets online from Disney, the most helpful and patient person I spoke to was in the internet help desk dept. Call them as you are starting your purchase online, and then, when you get the confirmation number after payment, give it to them. The rep immediately linked my tickets to my account. If you already made the purchase, the confirmation number should have also been sent to you via email.
I have two reservations, the first one through Orbitz, and wanted to be sure that my tickets would cover those days as well as my room-only made through Disney directly. As soon as she linked them, and I assigned them to the people in my party, I was able to do FP+ (because I was already in the time window, of course.)
Also, I chose the standard free shipping, but haven't received the tickets yet (its been less than a week.) So, I am not sure if I will still actually get plastic tickets? Does anyone know how that goes?

You won't need the plastic tickets. All data is stored in your MDE account and your MagicBand provides the link to your MDE data when the MB is tapped at the Entrance Gates and FP tapstiles.

I agree with the person who mentioned calling the internet help line. I purchased our annual passes this morning, then called the internet number and the nice lady linked our passes immediately using the confirmation number. I was then able to choose fastpasses for our stay next month. Easy!

Yes, that's exactly what I did when I purchased the tickets via phone...I had the IT help desk link them right away and was able to book FP+ at 60 days.

What I'm asking is whether I will still have to go to GR to "activate" the tickets on my MB when I get there. The CM I spoke with said no, but karly05 above said she did have to recently. Thoughts?
