Sticky label residue removal

I just bought a nice pair of black slacks last week. However, the area where the sticky label used to be keeps picking up dust and grime, and it's pretty noticeable. The area doesn't feel sticky, but stuff are definitely sticking to it in a neat rectangular patch.

I've already washed it twice with detergent and it hasn't done a thing for the problem. The material is polyester microfiber. Do any of you have suggestions on how to deal with it? Thanks!

Oh how annoying! I am having the same problem with a jacket. I'm sorry I don't have a solution for you, but I'm interested in what others may have to offer.

Try Goo-Gone or another similar product. It's a citrus based cleaner that does a great job with stuff like adhesives, grease, lipstick, etc. You may have to wash your item again after you treat it, because Goo-Gone does have a strong smell. I would wash it by itself for that reason.

Yes, I have used it on clothing. I cant say how many times my kids had a sticker on their shirt or a piece of candy/gum in their pocket that I washed and it left behind a mess. Goo gone got it all out

If you have some white vinegar, try that first. I've used it get sticky stuff off of walls when i didn't have any goo-gone and it worked like a charm. I realize you're asking for clothes, but it won't them to try it.

I agree with Goo Gone recommendations I have used a few times in situations like the ones you described and it works well.
