Wouldn't a stick of butter from the store cost more than a pound from GG?

Just bring it on the plane or whatever.

I agree that you could easily take a stick on the plane. Use a couple of frozen cold packs and a small (like baby bottle size) cooler. Butter can even be room temp for a time and be ok.

I can't remember if the Contemporary store had butter but my guess is that they would but they may not sell just one stick. You might could ask on the DVC forums. I asked about groceries in the store before we went and someone posted a list of all the items they carried and it included prices.

Why do you need a stick? Couldn't you just grab some butter from the counter service place during breakfast if you're using it just little bits at a time?

I would just throw a stick of butter in a ziploc bag or two and throw it in my luggage. I keep my butter at room temp at all times - have for 35 years. A few hours in a plane will not be a big deal...

I have never heard of single sticks of butter being sold.

When I was growing up, we used to buy single sticks while camping or on vacation - the small groceries that serviced "resorty" areas were well used to dealing with people who only needed one stick of butter or just a few eggs.

Same. I keep mine at room temp. If you google food safety, I think you will find that it can be at room temperature from 48 hours - 2 weeks...It's fat (not dairy). And, if that freaks you out, you could freeze the stick, put it in a zip lock and then pack it. It will be fine.

The resort store sells butter in 2 stick packs. I can't remember how much $ it was but did think that it was about the price of 4 sticks in the grocery store. IMHO, I would freeze a stick and pack it in checked luggage (in a ziplock bag) or bite the bullet and pay the price at the resort store.
