Just a rumor, but consider the possibilities ...

FROM THE INTERNET MOVIE DATABASE (imdb.com)

Jobs To Become Number-Two Man at Disney?

Steve Jobs, the chairman of both Apple Computers and Pixar Animation, may be offered a position in the Walt Disney Co. that would make him second-in-command to Michael Eisner, according to the New York Post, which said that at the least, Jobs might be offered a position on Disney's board. Some analysts, however, scoffed at the notion of the two men being able to work closely together, noting that a year ago, Eisner criticized Apple's "Rip.Mix.Burn" campaign for its iTunes product as an effort to promote piracy. Disney and Pixar are currently in renegotiations over a production/distribution deal, and Jobs has threatened to chuck Pixar's deal with Disney unless it can be substantially improved.

MIght not be bad. Does anyone think it's possible ME might "straighten up" if his #2 guy was a strong potential successor?

Steve Jobs is certainly crazy enough to make a good Disney CEO.

Ridiculous. Job's as #2 to anyone? What a joke. Further, why would Eisner feel insecure about a #2? He can still fire him. As a Board member he (Jobs) would probably be ok...But this would only be acceptable to Eisner if a new Pixar deal were inked (which would only serve to strengthen Eisners position) and even then he'd be one voice of possible dissent...Why would he do it?

HEY!! What'd ya know!!! The Landbaron and the Pirate agree!!

Good post Peter!!

I agree with you too, Pirate. I can't imagine Jobs playing second fiddle anywhere. Especially behind ME.

Haven't any of you ever witnessed a new number 2 guy coming in to a business where the number 1 guy was in a precarious position? Sometimes there is a big power struggle and one of the people leaves. Usually it's the number 1 guy who throws in the towel to save face, golden parachutes, etc. I'm not saying this is the case we're discussing here, but it has happened.

BTW, I've just referred to Eisner as a number 1 guy, and Jobs as a number 2 guy:o
