Poll shows more worried about Bindi
Australians are becoming increasingly worried about the pressures on Bindi Irwin, a magazine poll indicates.
A New Idea magazine online poll illustrates a change in attitude toward the nine-year-old daughter of the late wildlife warrior Steve Irwin and his wife, Terri.
Tuesday marks a year since a stingray fatally speared its barb into the Crocodile Hunter's chest while he filmed one of his nature documentaries on Batt Reef near Port Douglas.
In the month after his death, the magazine conducted an online poll which revealed 68 per cent of the 1,039 respondents believed Bindi should immediately continue her father's conservation work.
In the poll, to which 791 people responded, just 49 per cent said they believed the youngster should be shouldering that responsibility.
Last year, just six per cent of people said Bindi should instead focus on her schooling, but that figure jumped to 17 per cent in the poll.
Bindi this year launched her own clothing line and television series, has appeared in a stage show, and also works at the family's Australia Zoo on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
