Steve Irwin (crocodile hunter) dies..........

You're welcome, and I agree with you! :) I thought the interviews were really thorough and insightful (as well as hilarious) and Denton was a great interviewer and kept things moving along nicely.

I have a question for those of who've seen Andrew Denton and his style. Would you think he would have been a better person for the job of interviewing Terri than Ray Martin?

Personally, I don't think so.. Denton is more a comedian than a serious guy. But there are those who believe Denton would have been a far better choice than Ray Martin and who reckon he would have done a far better job of it.

Hmm...that's a good question. I did like Denton's style, and thought he did a really good job interviewing Steve. I think he might've done a good job interviewing Terri, too, but I think Ray Martin really did a great job. He seemed really compassionate towards her.

After watching both of their styles, I agree with you in that I think Denton seems better suited for the more light-hearted interviews, while Martin is well-suited for serious interviews. It's kind of hard for me to judge though because I have only seen each of them do one interview. Maybe I'd have a different opinion if I'd seen more of their interviews, but from what I've seen, I agree with you.

I finished watching the Denton interviews. I think he was the perfect one to interview Steve, based upon both of their personalities and Ray Martin was the perfect one to interview Terri based upon their personalities. If that makes any sense! Now, keep in mind that I haved never seen either one of these interviewers until now.

I about fell off of my chair laughing when Steve talked about being so nervous during the wedding and on his wedding night that he just had "steak." Also cracked up about the cameras following them around on their honeymoon. :rotfl: Then about trying for a boy and the methods they used. :teeth:

Bless all of their hearts. I can't believe that vivacious, passionate man is gone.

I haven't seen the Ray Martin interview (makes me too sad. I'm just not ready.)
But Denton is clearly a comedian he suited Steve very well and really just let Steve talk. I couldn't really see him interviewing Terri though.

I agree.. Denton is known as the "funny man".. he's just not the kind of guy to interview Terri under these circumstances.

For Steve yes.... Steve was so in your face and full of life... and Denton was perfect for that kind of thing, a fun interview. However, to interview Terri knowing she has lost Steve and that hurt is still so very raw.. he is not the person for that. Ray Martin is far more suited to that, plus he is very compassionate and understanding. Not saying Denton isn't, but they are as different as chalk and cheese.

Does anyone know if the song "He changed our world" from his memorial service, can be downloaded? I've been trying to find it, and can't. I thought it was a very pretty song.

Thanks for the links! I think "He Changed this World" is really a beautiful song. I also loved "True Blue" and enjoyed "Home Among the Gum Trees." I went to John Williamson's website and listened to clips of other songs of his and I really liked them! I'm actually contemplating buying his album titled "True Blue."

Don't know, but I do know that Dan McGahan got a recording contract for it and that was to happen anytime now.

Good thinking... we have a few of his CD's. He's good::yes::

Yeah...I really like his songs! I was thinking of buying the True Blue: the very best of John Williamson 25th anniversary edition that they are selling on amazon.com. It looks like a good CD...it has 43 songs on it.

Game proceeds go to Irwin charity
October 04, 2006 05:44pm

THE Brisbane Bullets plan to donate all proceeds from next week's home basketball game to Steve Irwin's Wildlife Warriors fund.

The Bullets will play the Townsville Crocodiles at Brisbane's Convention and Exhibition Centre next Wednesday.

Fans will be invited onto the court after the game to join the players in a shoot-off to help raise more funds for the charity.

Bullets head coach Joey Wright said the club was expecting a sell-out crowd.

“It's a fantastic opportunity to contribute to such a worthwhile cause and to pay respect to a man held in such high esteem around the world,” he said.

Irwin, 44, was killed when a stingray barb pierced his chest in a freak accident off the far north Queensland coast on September 4.

Irwin put in quarantine

RETURNING Australians and tourists will no longer see Steve Irwin smiling down at them from billboards when they arrive at the nation's airports.

As a sign of respect to the Irwin family, the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service withdrew, or recalled, any campaign material that featured the quirky Crocodile Hunter throughout Australia and abroad immediately after his death.

"We took down all the light boxes (billboards) in the airport out of respect for the Irwin family,'' an AQIS spokeswoman said.

No more ads ... Steve Irwin's image has been removed by quarantine chiefs.

But while the family continues to mourn, Irwin's widow Terri is determined to return to the stage at Australia Zoo by Christmas.

Zoo director Wes Mannion said yesterday: "Come Christmas both me and Terri will be getting in the Crocoseum and doing the shows.'

"We have to do that because if we didn't Steve would be quite upset about that, I'm sure.''

Irwin, 44, was killed when a stingray barb pierced his chest in a freak accident off the north Queensland coast on September 4.

A public memorial service was held for him at the Crocoseum on September 20.

Mr Mannion said it was up to the Irwins' eight-year-old daughter Bindi to decide when she would resume her own performances at the zoo.

"She's her own little girl and she makes her own decisions to a point,'' he said.

Mr Mannion said visitors were still flocking to the zoo - which is keeping Iriwn pictures on its billboards - at Beerwah on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, despite it missing its star attraction.

"I've just been amazed at just how great everyone has been that's been coming to the zoo,'' he said.

"The zoo has been going excellent, they're getting photos of Steve's picture.

"They're really embracing the man that he was, even though he's no longer here in person, just here in spirit.''

Steve Irwin (1962–2006)

’d just filed a column for The Australian when I got the first e-mail from Down Under about reports of an accident involving the Crocodile Hunter. All journalists, on hearing breaking news of a famous person’s injury, assume the announcement of death will follow shortly, President Kennedy and the Princess of Wales being merely the most obvious proof of the wisdom of this rule. But, in the early hours of a Monday morning, when my editor in Sydney told me my piece was being held because Steve Irwin had been killed by the barbed tip of a stingray, I found myself resuspending disbelief. Like a long-distance cyber version of an escapologist’s audience, I felt vaguely that it was too good an ending, and therefore must be part of the act—that at any minute the hyperactive overgrown schoolboy would emerge off the Queensland coast with his trademark “Crikey!” and a souvenir barb for the trophy room at the Irwin family’s Australia Zoo.

The Crocodile Hunter didn’t exactly laugh at death, but he was happy to play its straight man. In a FedEx commercial a few years ago, Irwin introduced us to the “Fear Snake,” “the most venomous snake in the world.” “One bite from him, and it’s all over,” he began in his exuberantly emphatic semi-parodic Aussie vowels, and then let the creature sink its fangs in. “Yow! Luckily we have had the antivenom sent from America by FedEx.” But, alas, it turned out they’d used a less reliable courier. Fatal error. “In my line of work,” he said, “if you are not absolutely sure, you are absolutely dead.”

I loved the He changed our world and my 9 year old dd loved the Home of the Gum trees. I am purchasing MP3 players for my dd's for Christmas and I'd love to find where to download both of these songs. If anyone discovers it, please post!

I know I keep saying it, but thanks Nutsy for posting these articles. :thumbsup2

As a side note, my dd's go to Catholic school and I guess the oldest dd's class was praying for different people yesterday and my dd said that she wanted to pray for Terri Irwin and Bindi because it had been a month since Steve Irwin died. (I couldn't believe that she realized it) Some of the kids in her class were giving her a hard time because they said he wasn't part of her family and why was she praying for them. Her response was that we are all brother and sisters. Made me very proud of her. :goodvibes Also, irritates me that the other kids had to make comments, but that's a whole different subject.

Also, it was a lovely thought on her part to think to pray for Terri and Bindi. You've got a special young lady there.::yes::

Anger Erupts Over Fake Bindi Irwin Website

A Brisbane man has defended his unofficial website that he says was dedicated to Steve Irwins daughter Bindi.

Wayne Smith, a former volunteer at Australia Zoo, has been attacked by fans for buying bindiirwin.com and accused of trying to make money out of the Crocodile Hunter’s death.

He was also attacked for hosting links to several anti-Israel and other politically charged websites.

Smith defended himself in a statement on the site saying: The main reason I purchased it was to keep it out of the hands of advertising agencies."

"Another reason I purchased it was because I knew that it would draw a lot of visitors and I enjoy running message boards.”

"I'm also a wildlife enthusiast who once worked at Australia Zoo as a volunteer with the Crocodile Team."

Steve Irwin’s manager and close friend John Stainton voiced his disgust at Smith’s exploit saying it was inappropriate to associate her with political propaganda.

One website Smith linked to was another he owned called ****israel.org which he says he owns because he disagree with the countries foreign policy.

Smith has now signed over ownership of the Bindi Irwin domain name to the Irwin family.
