Steve Irwin (crocodile hunter) dies..........

Steve's death won't destroy me: Terri

The grief-stricken widow of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin says she will one day have fun again.

In an interview in the latest edition of Woman's Day, a resilient Terri Irwin delves into the nightmare she has been living since the loss of her wildlife warrior husband.

He died after a stingray pierced his chest with its barb in a freak accident off the far north Queensland coast on September 4.

"Losing Steve for me is my personal horror, it's my nightmare and I'm living it," she tells the magazine, which has dubbed the interview a "world print exclusive".

"I'm just getting through an hour at a time right now. I'm still having trouble believing what happened."

However, she pledged with steely determination to bounce back from the tragedy, that has left her to raise their children Bindi, 8, and Bob, 2, alone.

"I'm not going to let it destroy me," she said.

"One day, I'm going to have fun again."

The interview features Terri doting on her late husband's three favourite elephants - Siam, Sabu and Bimbo - at the family's Australia Zoo wildlife park in Queensland.

"We're so connected ... they are like whales with legs, we just have a connection with whales and elephants," she said.

"There's this spirituality about standing next to an elephant that our zoo provides.

"If you smell them, feed, touch, experience them, then you'll get them into your heart and want to protect them - that's what Steve believed."

The interview follows TV interviews with the Nine Network's Ray Martin and American news queen Barbara Walters.

Steve and Terri met in 1991 when Terri, an American-born zoologist, visited a zoo where Steve was working.

They had a whirlwind romance and were engaged a few months later.

They married on June 4, 1992, and filmed their first documentary together while on honeymoon.

It later was used as the first episode of The Crocodile Hunter series which has made Steve Irwin famous around the world.

Don't worry Nutsy, I wouldn't put too much stock in what the National Enquire reports.....it is a "trash mag".

I don't even bother picking up any of those magazines. They will print anything if they think people will read it. All that does is give them more $$$$ in their pockets. They don't care about who they hurting.... :sad2:

How can they get away with publishing this? If there were any truth to it, I would imagine it would be in the news here in Australia and in the papers and we've not heard a word of it.

Personally I think that is sick. Plus to "dig him up" as they so nicely put it.. who's to say he's not been cremated? Terri won't reveal any details regarding that.
Pay NO attention to anything the Enquirer prints. They get sued often. Usually their front page is a story about alien babies and such!

Nutsy thank you so much for the link to the Ray interview! It was so much better than BW. I truly admire Terri very much.

You're more than welcome.. plus I wanted to see it myself.. I should have taped it the other night but didn't think of it at the time... I wanted to see it again, but not on ninmsn. as it wasn't the big screen.. :goodvibes

I just don't understand how they can print some of this stuff. I guess there are strict legal things they can get around like using certain words. I know that when my DH Dad died in a plane accident the press tried to get into the hospital by saying they were family. Some of the things that were written were so false. I know this is not everyone. I know there are true professional juornalists out there and a small few make it bad for others but....come on. Please let this poor family have some peace. Mr. Irwins death was so public...the memorial was public...let the family have some private time now.
My friend and I were in the grocery store when we saw the Enquirer headline. She thinks they are doing it so maybe there will be an investigation and the film of Mr Irwin will have to be reviewed leaving it easier for it to leak out! I hope not!! That would be just terrible for the family but if the police need it for and investigation I would think it would have to be turned over to them. I say burn it now so those children and Mrs. Irwin never have to see it or hear about it again! Just my 2 cents!

It's just so wrong.. the guy died doing what he loved.. but why or why can't the media just stay out of it. Terri has been interviewed by American and Australia and did a marvellous job.. not it's time to leave them be and let them get on with their lives.

It's rubbish like this that hurts those who are most vulnerable (those who are hurting).. so unnecessary.:sad2:

The National Enquiere is a tabloid. They have tabloids all over the world. They print BS. Celebs are always suing them over the stories they print.

I would not believe anything they print. I never spend money on their trash.

I just got done watching the Ray interview too and was amazed how different and how much better this one was than the BW one. I honestly think Ms Walters should have bowed out.......her interview came off like a trashy tabloid. I was embarrassed for Babs and felt awful for Terri having to put up with being asked such stupid questions. :confused3

Oh Nutsy.....I just spent the last hour crying......thank you for sharing the complete link to the Ray interview.
This was by far a much better interview than the Barbara Walters interview. What that poor family must be going through I can't even imagine. :sad2:

Well I only got to see like 10 min. of The Ray interview (very slow dial up) I have to agree with other posters that I think his interview was 100x better than BW. I wish we would of seen his interview instead of BW. Terri was so much more relaxed with him.

I guess I am going to have to get on line in the morning and start buffering before I take DS to school at 7:30. Maybe by 9 pm I can watch the whole interview.

I'm on dialup too and each clip took about 2 hours to download. I went out and grocery shopped, shipped packages, picked my granddaughter up from school, all sorts of things while I waited for each clip. Patience of a saint, or stupidity, I don't know which one. :p
By the way, it was well worth the time.......what a touching interview. Terri opened up so much with him it was very generous of her to share so much of her family life at such a sad time. You could tell though that talking was good for her...she relaxed and became animated and smiley while telling the stories.
Neat lady!

I used to have dial up too for a long time. Now that I've switched to high speed internet (cable) I'll NEVER go back again.Like you guys I used to sit and wait 2 or 3 hours just to get connected. It was terrible.I switched years ago and the $30 extra a month is costs for a cable connections is definitely worth it a million times over.
Sorry to get off the subject but reading your posts brought back some bad memories.
