Steve Irwin (crocodile hunter) dies..........

Some people may watch that video clip and think that Steve was a nut, but he was just so sincerely bonded with animals, especially the crocs. I always loved how he called them sweetheart and say isn't she gorgeous. Many people don't have that gift of exceptional appreciation of wildlife. It really was a gift. And Terri must be a special woman to understand a man like that. Sad sad sad.

I always gave steve irwin credit for my total love of animals. I cried that hard when I animals died, and I think I might've even shed a tear or two when his did. I know I cried when his dog died. He was an amazing man, with a beautiful gift. Animals loved him instantly. I wish that I had a gift like that. Meeting him was something I've dreamed about since I was a little kid watching his show. But I will go to that zoo one day. I will see those animals and I will remember him. Anyone who thinks he's crazy after watching that video has never really loved an animal.

How sad,he will be missed by all! :guilty:

I'm watching World News Now on the ABC station, and they mentioned Steve's death just now. The female anchor said he was stabbed in the heart by a stingray barb, and her co-anchor said "ouch". What a jerk.

I am devastated. I am an Australia Zoo Club member and one of his biggest fans. He gave me hours of happiness watching his passion for animals and conservation. Is an absolute tragedy and loss to the world. I feel like I have lost a close friend though I never met him, but had planned a trip to Australia to visit the zoo. Terri is a strong woman and I am sure she will keep up the fantastic work with conservation. My heart bleeds for Steve's family. I remember watching as his beloved dog Sui died. I read about how Steves mum was tragically killed in a RTA. I watched as Bindi was born. This is just such a terrible tragedy....... :guilty: :sad2: :sad1:

I think the sadness of all of us who never even met him says a lot about the impact that Steve had on the world. He basically let us into his life for several years, and so by being there as he laughed and cried, it felt like we really got to know him well. I remember how sweet he was with his wife when she was about to have their daughter, and how sad it was as he watched his beloved dog die. I admire him for showing the world that snakes, repties, and the like aren't "evil" or "disgusting", but can be just as beautiful as any other animal. So much enthusiasm and love and compassion, all in one man. Such a loss!

I hope that people don't start seeing stingrays as "evil" because of this, especially since he reportedly died trying to prove just the opposite.

It wasn't in the heart, but in the chest close to the heart. How do I know thisy you ask? The doctor who attended to Steve was interviewed on our news here tongiht and Steve was being given CPR immediately after the incident by his crew. However, he suffered cardiac arrest, which ultimately was the cause of death. But when you think of how much venom that ray must have packed and the pain he would have been in and just how close to his heart it was... he was damn unlucky.

ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATING!

They are great, thank you.

He was only 44 and was survived by a wife, and two small children.

God, Rest his soul....

How very sad. I enjoyed watching him on TV. My heart goes out to his family.

I just saw this on CNN. How terribly sad. My thoughts go out to his wife and family. :(

I find it weird though that the news would break before his wife was notified...according to that article. Oh,God! Who didnt love that guy?! :sad1:
