I was very shocked and saddened by his death, Steve Irwin was a wonderful asset to wildlife conservation and he will be sorely missed throughout the world.

He will never be forgotten, may he rest in peace.

It still hasn't sunk in yet that this croc-loving man is dead. He became so popular with the people that it's almost surreal. At least he died doing something he loved. But 44 is too young...it really is.

Wow, I thought this was a joke at first. He did all kinds of dangerous stuff before and lived through it, it didn't seem possible that he could die this way, while he was still so young. That's really sad.

yea, i watch his shows alot and yes, the dude is nuts. But he really does it for a good cause,like he's not one of those 'do it for action' ppl. I still cant believe he is gone, i mean, i thought this guy could do anything. I feel like any moment he going to pop up again and say, "Crikey Mates!"

Died today while filming in Australia. He was strung by a Stringray who's barb prierced his heart.


Just reported on the news ....

"Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin died today after being stabbed by a stingray barb. Irwin was off Australia's coast, filming a feature for his daughter's show. "He came over the top of a stingray that was buried in the sand, and the barb came up and hit him in the chest," Irwin's manager John Stainton said.

MAL2 there have been threads going quite a while on this one, but ironically I am a HUGE Steve Irwin fan - have been for years, I am an Australian Zoo club member - have the hat, the car stickers, pics everything.. I found out about his death this morning when I logged onto the disboards and checked 'new posts'. Someone on the VMK community had posted it - I thought it must be a hoax and checked the links. I am Distraught. Totally. Unfortunately DH doesnt like him a bit so I am not getting any sympathy at home

yes unfortainitlly he has i just found out a few moments ago. there is even a room for it and its on top of the list!!
