What can you guys tell me about this place? I'm going to check one out soon and I want to know what to expect. Sounds like a cool place! Their website isn't very helpful, though.

when they first opened in our area, it was great! They had lots of really nice hoodies and the jeans weren't bad and the prices were great. The jeans were like $7 a pair and the hoodies were under $10. The last time we were there they had really raised the prices and I noticed the quality wasn't as nice as it was the first time we were there.

Its about an hour away from us, so unless I am in the area, its not worth the drive. If they still had the same prices and quality as our first trip, I would make the trip every couple of weeks.

I got two great hoodies last summer in Ohio for 7 a piece and I think they were really nice quality......I don't go out of my way to go to the store, but sometimes you can find really nice stuff there for cheap.

I have never been to Steve & Barry's...yet. They are putting in a huge store in the local mall. I plan to check it out when they open.

I, personally, dont care for it. It just isnt 'my style'

And as another poster mentioned, they started out striong and seemed to have tried cutting costs while raising prices.

That being said - they do have a line that my youngest son likes : Starbury. Its these basketball shoes that are actually quite nice, and only $15.

When you walk in it kind of reminds (me at least) of an Old Navy with T-Shirts like Urban Outfitters.... sorta like that.

It is a ginourmous store.

OH, also - the sizing to me, always seems small. Mediums look small and small's look like kid's shirts.

theres one in the Manhattan mall in NYC. Alot of my friends go there and say the prices are great.

There is one near our house and we have gotten a lot of hoodies there, all for under $10. They are actually really nice quality-the heavier cotton sweatshirts. We bought DH a couple sweaters there and they are ok, they aren't going to hold up all that great but for $7 who cares. We haven't tried their pants but I have noticed a lot of people around here wearing them. I will probably look for summer clothes for the kids there but haven't gotten that far yet.

I love it. Having 4 boys, its a great place to get jeans, t-shirts, hoodies and basketball shorts at a great price.

Now I REALLY feel like crying. Steve and Barrys will forever remind me of our Disney Vacations. We always stop there and get sweatshirts and all sorts of dirt cheap stuff before we come home.
When we went there after our last springbreak trip to Florida, we had so much stuff we had to condence everything together so we weren't over our baggage limits at the airport.
We have on that just opened about an hour from here, but somehow it just won't feel the same.
To get back to your question, they have the coolest things for really, really great prices. I LOVE THAT STORE.

No crying! I don't want it to make anyone sad! I understand what you mean about the one at home not being the same.

Thanks for the info everyone, we're checking it out tonight!

I bought 2 t-shirts at Steve & Barry's. I found them to be very poor quality.

When I washed them a medium woman's t-shirt shrunk so bad it fit my 3 year old.

There is one near me in S. Jersey. It is sort of like a poor man's Old Navy. The Tshirts are funny and some can be on the raunchy side so considered yourself warned.

There is a ton of college apparel in my local store but not the local university about 5 minutes away from the store.

My kids have worn the stuff and I do have to say it does look like it is sized small. My daughter wears a 14/16 there but is a 10/12 mostly everywhere else. The jeans have held up since past Christmas for my daughter and for my son.

I'm not sure how I feel about the adult clothes there, I haven't either found anything that I really liked or that they had my size.

We just went for the first time last week.

Jeans = 2 for $20(old navy quality)
Tees(graphic) = 2 for $10
Sweatshirt pullover hoodies(graphic and university) = $15 each

IMO, it is what old navy used to be.

I can't shop there. I'm somewhere between 5'11" and 6', and their XL womens tshirts don't cover my stomach even before they're washed and they shrink. But then again, thats not much different from what I've found at most stores lately.

I remember Steve & Barry's University Sportswear from college. They were the alternate place to get college stuff than the Bookstore...also you could get your greek sweatshirts made there (although I preferred "Going Greek" for that kind of stuff).

They came out here a couple of years ago, and DH loved it b/c he got a ton of cargo shorts for $7.95 each or something like that. We buy jackets and stuff for me to embroider on from there b/c it's so cheap. I rarely find anything for myself, though...although I do have a top and pants that I like. DH likes the t-shirts, too. I recently got a mini backpack for $3 that I'm probably going to use at WDW this summer...

Anyway, we like it, but you definitely have to pick and choose what you buy there...also, we miss the time when everything was under $10...now the prices vary...

I think their sweatshirt quality is great....thick sweatshirts....not those cheap thin ones.....I've got a bunch of the sweatshirts and hoodies and they are thick and nice....and I got them all for under $10!!
