So I had an appointment with an ENT today for my sinuses. He put a camera up my nose and saw how horribly inflamed it is from my allergies. I have FIVE! new medications to take everyday, and a predisone back.

Man is it leaving an awful taste in my mouth! No matter what I do I cannot get rid of it. It's driving me crazy!!! I also need to take them on a full stomach, yet I have zero appetite. Ay yi yi, this is gonna be a crazy week!

Anyways just a mini vent I suppose. Anyone else have any steroid pack experience? I need someone to commiserate with

I had a similar experience a couple years ago. The steroids made me jumpy and I had a ton of energy! Hope you are feeling better soon.

The way I am with meds? I wouldn't even make it through the first day!

Good luck - and feel better!

I was on prednisone for 3 years for a combination of uncontrolled asthma, eczema and allergies. For the past 2 years, I have been on and off prednisone when I am sick. I am currently on prednisone right now for an asthma attack.
FWIW, I dont take it with food. I take it whenever I happen to remember to take it. BUT, of course each person is different. I am on zofran to combat the side effects of my methotrexate so and nausea or upset stomach from the prednisone wouldnt be noticable to me (and it wouldnt even compare to the stomach issues from the methotrexate anyways)

I take my prednisone with juice. It doenst leave a bad taste usually that way. Also, dont put it on the front of your tongue. Put it as far back as you possibly can. That wany it wont have as much of a chance of leaving an after taste on your tongue.

I've been on and off predisnone for 2 years because of my ulcerative colitis, and I'm currently on it right now. It DOES leave an awful taste in your mouth! I put it on a spoonful of applesauce and then swallow that.

 You deserve a medal! I couldnt imagine doing that for 2 years. I know someone on methotrexate adn that takes a number on them. That and the predinose, you are a saint!

Thanks for the tips. I just took my last round for the night so I will try that tomorrow. I really appreciate it!

And everyone else, thanks for the well wishes. I hope everyone else feeling sick gets better quickly.

2 years...once again, you people are saints! I really could not imagine. I was thinking about the applesauce today wondering if it might help. My mom is a nurse and she thinks i'm crazy about this taste in my mouth. It really does taste gross! I'll pick up some applesauce tomorrow when i'm at the store. Thanks for the tip.

been off and on them since i was 15 for then colitis, now crohns. ugh! i normally take mine as fast as i can and then follow it with a juice chaser. the taste is horrific! my poor grandmother has to take puffers with them in it and all she has at the nursing home to wash away the taste is water. blech!

they give me tons of energy, which is why im up at four am my time rite now, mood swings, bloated body, puff face, all sorts of good stuff. but when that "high" is over, my body crashes hard, normally including stomach pains. they are evil, i despise them, but if it helps my health i have to suck it up....no pun intended! lol

I've been on predisone before and it always makes me more hungry. Switched to Medrol, which is similar as it is a steriod type drug, but with less side effects. I just have to say that this is like a wonder drug for my allergies. I've taken it on and off for a few years, but normally only when I've had a sinus infection. Last spring my allergy doctor prescribed a low dose for me to take every day and I actually have been doing really well. Actually feel like a normal human being most of the time. A lot of other people around have been simply nasty with allergies recently and I've been doing pretty well.

Another tip, take it as early in the day as possible. It won't play with your sleep as bad that way.
