Ok, honestly I don't know why people get offended! People who are true racists don't make racist jokes! Even though I don't make any racist jokes... okay maybe about the Christians, but just a little. Ok, a lot, but nonetheless if you've ever seen a racist on TV or met one, they aren't making racist jokes. They're saying how "Blacks are evil! Jews are evil! Muslims are evil!" Anyone get what I'm saying?

Let the flames begin.

Because when people make jokes like that it's disrespectful and can hurt peoples feelings.

First of all, Christianity is not a race.
Secondly, rascists do make rascist jokes.
Thirdly, you don't see how they get offended!? What the hell?

I think the point you're trying to make is that racist jokes aren't intended to be derogatory, and that true racists aren't the ones making these jokes.

But there's definetly lots of people who believe the sentiments behind the jokes, which does make them offensive.

I know some of my friends think that ginger or redhead jokes are funny.
And while I know that they don't believe any of the things they're saying, it does get annoying after a while.

I know it's a religion, but it's not called "religionist" is it? And "racial discrimination" is not that at all, because I'm not discriminating at all! Well I don't actually feel those things. I laugh at some jokes against white people and Jews, both of which I am, and I don't think it's offensive.

They're called religious jokes. Get a dictionary.

You might not be discriminating, but you are prejudice, IMO.
Yeah, and fat people laugh at fat jokes too. But on the inside they really are offended.

It really depends on the joke.

But they are usualy really offensive, and i dont think its okay.

Depends on the joke.
TBH, I can see why people would get offended.
I know I get REALLY offended when people make religious jokes toward me.
I was teased a lot last year for being Jewish. The one that sticks out in my mind most to me was when I was arguing with a boy who loves to pronounce that he is german. I told him to go back to germany and he replied "Go back to the ovens."
Needless to say I almost punched the boy in the face, but I didnt want to get suspended or in trouble.

...Russell Peters anyone?
A "rascist" joke (and by that, a joke that singles out another race/culture/religion/society of any sort!) does not have to be mean or cruel, but just a truthful observation of that group. The "go back to the ovens" joke about the Jewish religion was just plain wrong and is not a joke at all, as it is highly disrespectful and offensive, but a Russell Peters style "Brown people are cheap" joke, is not..

It really all depends on the joke, and even if such-and-such jokes are offensive in your opinion, wouldn't it just make the person saying these jokes seem more of a loser anyways!?

Carlos Mencia is a good example. He's an "equal opportunity offender". He even makes "racist" jokes towards his own race....Actually...the majority of his jokes are about hispanics.

LOL just had to comment, you must be Canadian--I don't think they've heard of Russell Peters in the U.S. I can't stand his comedy though.
(sidenote; he's from my city)

I think all of those jokes, even if they're "not meant to be derogatory" certainly ARE derogatory, whether or not they were meant to be.
It's like when people say something horribly rude and then say "no offence"
uhhm ya...i'm still offended tnx!
I find myself laughing at offensive jokes something, but I still know they are offensive!!!!

I hate to say this but i absolutely love jokes against white people!!! BTW I am white..........I think it really depends on the intent of the joke whether to be mean or just to be funny but i would never make a joke against someone if I knew they werent ok with it. just my personal opinion on the subject

Well...
I often find rascist jokes funny. Mostly the kind that Sxephil does.
I don't know, I can't give reasoning for it. I can't say 'No offense' or it's okay because he has black genes in his family (because nothing is more annoying than someone of a minority making jokes about themselves).
I just do, and if that makes me a bad person, so be it.

Most of the stuff I find funny, isn't like incredibly bad.

I think jokes are only offensive you if let them be. If someone wants to call me a cracker for being white I really could care less. I think people get too afraid and are so politically correct it's insane.

People do get offended though and I don't think it's right to make jokes based on race and religion but if it happens people need to not get so offended and let it go. It's a stupid joke.

I don't think racist jokes that are about stereotypes are a big deal at all. They're funny and getting offended about it is stupid, because there are stereotypes about everything, and most of the time the people who get offended the joke doesn't apply to, whereas the people who the joke does apply to usually laugh about how true it is.
But racist jokes that make fun of the Holocaust or something along those lines, I wouldn't find offensive because I realize it's just a joke, but I can see why people find offensive. It really just depends on if you know where to draw the line, and if you know your audience.

I agree with questionmark.
