Stepson was out with some friends today and they ended up deciding to go to taco bell. There are usually stray cats that hang around that area because there are lots of fast food places there so they get into the dumpsters. We have a dog and three cats. The dog, we had already but all the cats stepson brought home from different places he found them. But when he came home today he had a kitten inside his zipped up hoodie, like it wouldn't be seen there  and...even if I DIDN'T notice a cat in his shirt, what was he planning on doing, I mean did he think I wouldn't notice that we had an extra cat around the house?LOL  anyway, I'm fine with another cat. Hubby will be surprised when he gets back from his trip. He is not crazy about having pets but stepson and I love it. So I'm taking the little thing to the vet tomorrow and right now we have it quaruntined in the laundry room with a litter box, blanket, food and water. I say quaruntined because we don't want the kitten around our other pets since we don't know about it's health yet.
So. A dog and a buncha cats and how many pets is too many? Our house is big enough but I wonder how many do you get before you just need to stop.

I admire people that have a soft spot for animals, I think they have great hearts.:goodvibes

How many is too many? :confused3 I don't know just make sure you are able to provide them with food, appropriate vet care & a clean loving house.

We have 2 kiddos & 2 dogs & that is our magical number, but then again, I have met people that have as many as 8 :scared1:

Different folks different strokes.

Just out of curiosity, what is your dog's opinion on so many cats?

I guess different personalities- dog doesn't like one of the cats much and they seem to regard eachother suspiciously :rotfl:
one cat he is accepting of but they dont interact they just sort of ignore eachother, they could be in the same room and never acknowledge each other.
One cat though, he absolutely loves and she is the only one who can go on his bed- if the other cats get on his bed, he will paw at the bed until they get up and leave, but if that particular cat gets on his bed, he will just lay down next to her. They are best buds. He even brings his toys to her and sets them down in front of her which is very cute but since his toys are about as big as her head, she can't exactly play with the dogs toys lol.
Growing up I always thought dogs and cats couldn't get along but I guess it just depends on if they get used to each other and what their personalities are.

I'm not sure how many is too many but when you said 8, I was like the number definitely needs to be smaller than that for us lol. Stepson is very good at finding strays. He is very good at feeding those strays. He is very good at playing with those strays. He is NOT very good at cleaning out litter boxes and
it somehow ends up becoming my job. :rotfl:

When the Show "Animal Hoarding" shows up with cameras, you'll know you have too many. I hope the new kitty is segregated from the others until he/she gets a clean bill of health from the vet.

Most towns have some kind of a pet ordinance for how many you can keep at home. Look that up on your town website but 4 is pretty common.

Ha ha!!!! This is EXACTLY what I was going to say!

Good luck with the new kitty!!
