a new movie and it is going to be based in Lewiston.......he was in the hospital here when he was hit by a car......he grew up in durham which is not far from here......he very much liked the way the Police and area treated him here....keeping the media away from him and his family......the town respected his privacy...and made sure his recovery was a smooth one.......He always has donated to the hospitals and librarys and anything worthy of donating to donate to.....he has done alot of the University of Maine in Orono where he received his degree......he is an avid University of maine Black Bear Hockey team supporter....he loves to go......I think this man is a class act and does not forget his fellow mainers.......ever......

I still have alot of his books that I have not even opened yet......but did take a turn and read all of Lincoln Child and Douglas Prestons works......all six of them......and now I hear there is a new one out.....tell your hubby to try the Relic and also the Relicquary....excellent and bizarre......I read one of those in less then two days......27 bucks in two days.....hahaha......also one that came out last year is Cabinet of Curiosities........these are something else....

Stephen King has always been one of my favorite authors. Whenever I need that mental escape, I re-read one of my favorites.

He does a lot for Bangor also. He and his wife put a lot of $$ towards a new city pool- when the city was cutting back on the design because all the bids were above budget, he and Tabby decided to pay the difference so no corners would have to be cut. They certainly haven't forgotten the days when they had nothing- and they constantly try to do for those not as fortunate as they are!

My two youngest daughters went to a reading and book signing with Stephen King, what a humble man he is and so creative....They loved the reading and treasure the book he signed.. when my youngest went up to get her book signed.. she told him.. "I just have to tell you this" and he said, Yes, she said.. "The Stand is my favorite book of all time... he said thank you, it is my favorite too... she walked away beaming, sort of ferklempt... she loves to tell the story...

That would be awesome to meet him!!

Both he and his wife Tabitha are very nice "normal" down to earth folks. They're very approachable....you'd like them if you have the chance to meet them.

I would love to meet him, he's one of my favorite authors, if not THE favorite. I have so much respect for him, his creativity. He's highly unique, and I treasure the most unique of things, as they are very special. I'd give anything to be able to write like he does!

GP!? I would really like to know who YOU are. Whoever you are, you are a sweetheart and I'd like to meet you someday as well.

I can't read too many Stephen King books anymore, they give me too many nightmares, but I love them and nobody does it better. lol

I love STephen King and John Grisham books both of my fave authors. I have always heard the King is a very generous man. I would love to meet him some day. I love when he makes cameos in all his movies, he is so easy to spot :)

He doesn't always want to be approached- last time we saw him at the grocery store a woman was gushing at him and said, "Oh I didn't realize who you were...." he looked at her and said, "That's the idea Ma'am":teeth: But when my Mother asked him to reach the OJ for her (the drink not the murderer) he did so gladly.

ROTFLOL!
Why that's a no brainer...I'm Goofy!!!
;) :jester: :teeth:

He doesn't always want to be approached

That is true for anyone who has or does "live under a spot light" {trust me, I know} or at least 99% of those who achieve 'notarity'.

"That's the idea Ma'am"

LOL! That's his dry wit! ;)

But....having known them for about 20+ years....I've only known the very kindly, thoughtful, friendly & generous side of him.

He has a Home here in Florida on the West Coast and stays here in Winter Months. He also is a member of a "rock" band called the "Rock Bottom Remainders" with our local Author Dave Barry and Amy Tam was a member also. They perform at the Book Fair here in October. I have never seen them perform, but hear they are good.;)

Stephen and Tabitha King certainly are all those things and more! We certainly feel lucky to live in an area that benefits so much by their generousity!
