Stephanie Plum novels question

I've bounced around. The main differences are that her relationships change around, going back and forth, and it could be confusing if you aren't following along. I don't think there's much wrong in reading the occasional book out of order, as long as you know that the men in her life aren't stable within her life, LOL.

I think you're much better off if you read from beginning to end. You learn all the relationships between the different characters and I think that makes the stories better.

I've bounced around too. They are still good books that way, but it can get a little confusing at times.

I once picked up #9. I felt I was lost because I didn't know about the history. So I went back to the store and got 1. If anyone was going near the bookstore they would check with me to see how far I was and if I needed the next one. But I am a little fanatical about things like that.

Evanovich tends to bring back characters from earlier novels for cameos, and Stephanie's on again/off again relationships are confusing. Things make way more sense if read in order, with the between the numbers novels in their proper place. However, if you pick one at random, it is still an enjoyable read, and after a little head scratching, you can usually figure out who a character is, or at least know they were in an earlier book without ruining the story.
