Stein Eriksen Lodge

We are thinking about staying at the Stein Eriksen Lodge next year using our points. We would be going the first week of August . Has anyone ever stayed there? It looks like a real nice resort. If you have any experiences there, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

I haven't stayed there but the Travel Channel has had a couple of specials dealing with it, you might try their website to see if/when they might come around again. It appears to be a world class resort. I bet you can do better with cash than points for that time as it's relatively speaking, off season. Good luck.

Thanks, Dean. I went on their website and the most inexpensive room is $205 a night. I think that we will try and use our points. 182 points vs. $1435 + tax sounds good to me! Can you believe the points are 83 per night in the winter? Thank goodness we are not skiers!

I live about 45 minutes from Park City and Deer Valley. It is, indeed, a beautiful place and a world-class resort. Dean may be correct that it may be cheaper to pay cash than to use points. Park City is an engaging town with great restaurants, galleries and unique shops. There is a huge outlet mall about 10 miles away. Hiking and mountain bike trails are plentiful and there are several golf courses fairly close. The weather is usually warm during the day (about 10 degrees cooler than Salt Lake) and it can get chilly in the evening. The Utah Symphony (usually under the direction of Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockart) often plays outdoor concerts at Deer Valley during the summer. Call them and check around before you make a final decision. I'd also call one of the AAA offices near there. You may want to get a West Coast major Sunday paper like LA and see if anything pops up. Search around the net as well, even expedia and travelocity. I'd even try to find a travel agency that specializes in the area which shouldn't be too hard. I wouldn't be surprised if you can get the price under $1000 for the same stay even with some meals thrown in. If you go, let us know what you think.

Just a quick search on the web found rates as low as $125 per night for late August, $185 for mid August.
