Steelers vs. state trooper basketball game

I am watching this basketball game on TV. Last weekend, there was a benefit at a local school for a state trooper's family who was killed in the line of duty in December. They had a basketball game. It was the Pittsburgh Steelers (including Ben Roethlisberger, dang, he could play basketball professionally instead of football) versus the state troopers. This is crazy. It is half time right now. Guess who's winning. The Steelers of course. The score is 20-70. I knew that the Steelers won, but I didn't know they were beating the state troopers this badly. LOL. Oh well, it was a good thing for the family.

I mentioned it to my DH and he's trying to find it on satellite - but we're in NJ??????

That was so sad when the State Trooper died. There is a State Trooper in my neighborhood, and I was really worried about him the morning of the shooting. It's nice the Steelers are doing that basketball benefit. When I was young, the Bengals came to our high school and played donkey basketball. It was funny, and they were a Superbowl team the next year.

Hillbeans: It was on the local government acess channel. Only my town gets it.

momof2inPA: It was very sad. The morning it happened, all the teachers got an e-mail saying what had happened. Our teacher told us that a student's father was a state trooper and was shot and killed that morning, but thats all she said. I immediately knew who it was. His daughter is in my grade and his son was in my math class last year.

I just like that there's a Steeler thread. NBC was running this commercial that said "only 150 days till the Steelers are back on NBC. Can we help that we're excited?" Show a bit about the sad state NBC and Pittsburgh sports are in, but heck, I was excited!

LOL. I saw that commercial. The Super Bowl was the first football game that I have watched EVER (which is sad being that since I'm in band, I have to go to all my school's football games and I've never actually watched one of those games). LOL. My friends got me hooked on the Steelers (esp. Ben HEHE) and I got them to at least like Disney. LOL.

Our Georgia boy, Hines was on the cover of the AJC last week for taking his mom to South Korea as he promised. It looked like the whole country came out to welcome him and I just found this which I think is fantastic!

The Super Bowl MVP, whose father is black, also will be meeting with children of mixed-race backgrounds. Ward's fame here has prompted introspection about the treatment of such children, who typically have faced prejudice in conservative Korean society, where pure blood ties are emphasized.


Also, I called the Falcon's box office yesterday to find out when tickets are going on sale for the Atl Pit game and was told mid July and there will be a limited supply, ugh! You can get them on the broker sites for $169 and up, but I remember when season ticket holders would GIVE us tickets whenever the Steelers played Atlanta! Oh well, it's the price you pay for being a fan of Super Bowl champs I guess!
