i cant remember if the reason I've never been on the steamboat is because we haven't had time, or because its not open in the winter
please can someone enlighten me? because id love to go on it (i see it as my reward after phantom manor, which im trying to get myself on!)
thankyou!

Hi Emily,
It was working when we were there a month ago...

It was raining a little and cold when we were there.... very atmospheric, and perfect for Phantom Manor!

...and Phantom Manor wasn't that scary for me, but then I spent the whole time yelling "it's only a puppet!!!!" every time my 4yo son was scared by something (which was frequently!).

You could always try that as a tactic for yourself :rotfl:

:wave2: Em xx

oh good tactic, i like that.
im soooooo excited, ive just found out, by accident, that it looks like my wonderful amazing bofy is taking me to DLP for my 21st. not until december, but how brilliant is that! i got so excited, but couldnt show it cos im not meant to have realised - oops!
so glad that the steamboat is working, ive always wanted to go on it!
i love the photo
im going to go revel in my disney excitement

Oh you lucky thing, you have a great bf.... he will keep you safe in Phantom Manor so you must try it!

My fairly wimpy 12yo wasn't scared at all by it, so pluck up the courage and you will be fine.
Or if you like I will come too and yell "It's a puppet" at you the whole way round!!:rotfl:

:thumbsup2

now that sounds like a good idea - il make sure he knows he has to bring you too!
im sure i can do it, i think its just cos ive been putting it off since i was like 9, that its become scarier in my head than it actually is!
thanks for ur help

We've just come back and the steamboat was not in action at all for the four days we were there.

can you only go on the boat if you go on phantom manor? i don't want to go on phantom manor but would love to ride the steam boat!

No you can just ride the steamboat. Phantom Manor is separate. When entering you come to the steamboats first anyway.

We didn't bother with the Steamboat on our last trip, having done it at Cali. However, it has just occured to me that the location is somewhat different, and that it might be a good opportunity to get some nice photos of PM and BTM

Is that the case and should we put it on our list for this next trip? :scratchin

When did you go Morrigan? :) I came back this morning and we were on it yesterday!!!!:)

we were there from 21-24 of Feb. It was parked up but not in action at all on the days we were there. Shame, would have like to have been on it!

Why are so many of you afraid of going onto Phantom Manor! This is not scary it is funny! It is my favourite attraction and I would pay 40€ extra to go on this ride! :yay:

In my opinion Snow White and Pinocchio are much more scarier! I would ride Phantom Manor with a 4 year old boy but not Snow White and Pinocchio!

Please go on Phantom Manor you will love it! PM and POTC are the best attractions in the whole Disney universe!

thankyou for all your replies. seems that the times of opening are pretty inconsitent for the steamboats so il guess we'll have to wait and see.
anyone been at christmas time and seen them running?
emily x

and to reply to markus's post - i know, im a silly silly wuss arent i! i do LOVE POTC so if u think its on par with that then i guess im going to have to get the boyfriend to forcibly carry me onto it!i am determined to get myself on it!

I can't believe that anyone would miss such a beautiful ride as Phantom Manor - as you would expect from Disney it's truly stunning. :)

Hoping to get get a ride on the Mark Twain, we've previously only managed Molly Brown.

That is a stunning photograph Emmylou - love it.:thumbsup2

it does look stunning. beautifully haunting i guess!
well im going to tell the boyfriend before we go that if i put up a fight, just pick me up and haul me on, its the only way to get the wuss on it now i think! god, am i 20 or 2????

The only bit that may make you jump is in the stretch room when the lights go out. You jump because so many people scream - the more teens you have in the room, the louder the scream will be. If anything, it's more irritating than scary.:rolleyes1

Once that is over, the rest of the ride is amusing, funny, hilarious even.:rotfl:

We were there 12 - 15 Feb and the steamboat was not running at any time.

thanks for your advice/thoughts hildsamuriel.
i think i can imagine the kind of screams ur talking about! but its certainly made me feel like im just being a big baby and il be absolutely fine on it. along with my big strong boyfriend, il be juuuuust fine! silly girl!
so frustrating about the steamboat, i think its just going to be a case of seeing when we get there judging by the other comments
thankyou everyone!
