Steaks, steaks, steaks!

Bob NC...sorry about your experience. Just this past Saturday night, my wife and I went out to eat (not at Disney...where we live on Long Island)...the two of us alone...babysitter with the kids....and we happened to get seated near an enormous birthday party and...lucky us...got the same waitress as them.
Felt bad for her...but also for us....the empty beer glass is a killer! Felt like asking her where they're kept so I could just go up and get them myself!
Hopefully John is no longer employed at Yachtsman...but they certainly should have knocked something off your bill. (And I have to say, 10-percent is a decent tip considering what you went through.)

but I must say, I haven't been able to bring myself back to the YSH since they took the chateaubriande off the menu.:(

DH & I really enjoyed it carved tableside, with the sides of bearnaise and bordelaise sauces.

I'm still angry:mad: and holding a grudge, lol.

Another write-in ballot for the Yachtsman!! Ate there on our Aug trip and the filet was great as usual.

We also enjoyed the Chateaubriande for two and now miss it. I read a post awhile back that if you call in advance and request it they will make it for you. I have not tried this yet but I was considering it. The filet was very good though on our last trip in Aug 02.

Thanks for the info. Tiffany :D Do they serve the filet with the side sauces? Bearnaise sauce is so yummy! Hey, maybe I should start a new thread..."Where to get bearnaise sauce with your steak at WDW?" LOL:o

There was no sauce on the filet that we had in Aug and it was great. We do not believe there was sauce on the Chateaubriande but we are not 100% sure as this was a few years back.

First let me say that the YSH was my biggest disney disappointment. A lot of money! I beleive that if you want to charge me 30.00 for a piece of beef give me my monies worth. We would never return.

La cellier was very good. Shulas was good and expensive too. For my money go off site. The Palm at the Hard Rock Hotel in Universal is excellent as is The Butcher Shop at the Mercado shopping center.

'Shula's' was voted the best Steakhouse in Orlando for 2002. But if you must go offste, there is a 'Ruth's Chris' on Sand Lake Rd.

Eeyore2U...I agree they should. I laughed when I saw this topic because I knew you would be posting...:p

If nothing else I am consistent and honest. DW and I are Plaza III in Fanuiel Hall Marketplace this weekend. The one in Kansas City says it's rated om the top 5 in the US. We'll see. Shula's sets an awfully high standard.

Our favorite restaurant for steak is LeCellier!

I like them all but I have to put in a word for the value one gets at The Concourse Grill. I have never had a bad steak there (which is the only reason I go there - steak). It doesnt have the atmosphere of some of the others mentioned but it is cheaper by far than most.
Although, the staek I had at FF was one of the best ever. Guess that doesnt help you much!

Another big two thumbs up for LeCellier !

On our last trip to WDW we wanted to try both Yachtsman Steakhouse and LeCellier. We did both within several days of each other for supper, so I think that should be a good baseline for comparison.

Le Cellier lived up to all our expectations ! The steak (filet) and all the other items that we ordered were as good as everyone had said they were. I found the restaurant itself to be quite relaxing, and had no ptoblems at all with the service.

And then there was our dinner at Yachtsman. Though i usually order filet, I decided to try the t-bone since the menu described it as "so tender and full of flavor." I do better meat on my gas grill at home - and I admit that I suck at it ! I had them send it back as I didn't think it was all that good for a $30+ piece of meat. I ordered the filet. It was better, but I still have to say that I was underwhelmed by it. I've had better filets at half the price from Outback.
