Steaks at Yachtman's vs. Captain's Grille

We have a one night adults-only dinner planned and we love steak. I have read all the raving reviews about Yachtman's and it looks like something we would love, but I see that Captain's Grille also has a much less expensive ribeye on the menu, plus I am intrigued about trying their Green Goddess dressing. It seems that the atomosphere at Yachtman's is probably more upscale, but if the food is just as good at Captain's Grille, then it would be hard to to pay the extra for Yachtman's.

Has anyone eaten at both or have an opinion?

I have not eaten at either, but I've heard so many good things about Yachtsman that we made sure to get ADRs for upcoming trip.

Having been to both restaruants in the last year I can say that our steaks were a higher quality at Yachtman's. It is not that Captain's Grill had bad steaks but there was a lot more grizzle in my steak at Captain's Grill and it was obvious to both DH and I that the sauce on the steak was being used to help mask the amount of grizzle. I would go back to either but probably not order a steak at Captain's Grill again- there are plenty of other things on the menu that look good as well.

I personally have not been to either one , but my brother went to YC two years ago and said, "It was over priced for just OK quality" Then getting ready for my trip in December I have read a lot of boards especially the BC/YC official resort boards and LOTS of people stated that Captain's grilll is good and YC is NOT worth the the 2 table credits.

YSH will have better selection and quality than Captain's Grille. There is always Crew Cup Lounge, which uses the YSH kitchen for dinner. Last time we went, we both got excellent steaks and I also believe they have the green goddess dressing on the menu as well. That may be another option for you as well.

However, I would highly recommend YSH if you've never done before, esp for adults night out.

Have only eaten at Captain's Grille. While it was okay it was nothing spectacular. If you don't mind the extra cost I would definitely say YS.

First, let me qualify this by stating that I have never eaten at Captain's Grill. I have, however, dined at YSH twice, and both times the dinner was excellent, as was the service. I really do believe it's the best steakhouse there. The decor is understated (for a Disney property), but warm and inviting. I should mention that, while Crew Cup shares the same kitchen as YSH, the bartender explained to us (last May) that there are restrictions on the Crew Cup menu... There are things served in the YSH that can't be gotten in the lounge. A friend of mine (who visits WDW annually) has tried both Captain's Grill and YSH and much prefers YSH.

Captain's Grille was delish however, when I went they had scallops & that's what I got. Many in my party got steaks & everyone enjoyed the meal very much.

We love YM and I usually order whatever Ribeye that is currently on the menu. They have always been good. My favorite is when they had the Cowboy Steak!! We have been to Captain's Grille twice, and once I ordered the Ribeye there, it was good as well, but definitely not as good as the one at YM. It was just a better quality cut of meat there. We are going back to both places on our upcoming trip in Feb. When we go back to CG, I am going to order something other than a steak, they have a great selection of things to choose from on their menu.

I wish we had time to go to both. We hardly ever splurge and it will be our only meal until the kids and grandma arrive the next day- so it sounds like Yachtman's will be worth it.

Our meal at CG was very good but we had chicken and the pork chop...if you want a good steak you have to go to YM, it is out of this world!

We are going back to CG in a few weeks but do not plan on ordering the steak...honestly the few times we have had steak at a non signature place we have not been that thrilled with it.
