I’m planning a September 2023 solo trip and looking for a noonish air-conditioned lunch/adult beverage convenient to the Magic Kingdom. Jungle Skipper is the only TS I enjoy there and I’d like to try something new. I also don’t want to be tied down to a reservation.

I was looking at the menu at Steakhouse 71 and the crab cakes look nice. Has anyone had lunch here?

Is there anywhere else you’d suggest? I enjoy Geyser Point but am thinking I’ll want AC in early September. I‘m a light eater and don’t care for burgers or most beef dishes. A good salads or seafood would be great. I’m open to quick service as well as bar seating.

We had lunch at SH71 in March, and it was a really nice meal. The crab cakes are really good. I enjoyed the grilled cheese, myself! It is extremely convenient to walk out the front gate over to CR, in the main lobby and into the restaurant. I would certainly recommend it - but I'd also recommend you have a reservation. Better to have the reservation and cancel, than to not have one and not be able to get a table/seat.

Thank you but I‘m pretty firm about no reservations, I don’t want to be tied down. If I can pick up a reservation when I’m ready to eat I might do that but nothing in advance.

I.ve done the lounge for lunch a couple times. I just go early and never had any issue getting a spot at the bar. I loved the burger.

Resort lounges are almost never super busy during lunch hours, most people are still in the parks tbh. I say go for it, we plan on doing this on one of our MK days.

But also: you really don't need advanced reservations for Skipper Canteen. The walk up wait list is nearly always wide open unless it's a really busy day and same day, same hour ADRs are stupid easy to pull. Especially solo. In general nowadays it's really painless to eat TS without ADRs for all but the most popular restaurants. So I wouldn't rule out Skipper Canteen, just wait to see what you're in the mood for at the time and you'll be fine.

Thanks but I’ve probably eaten at Skipper Canteen a dozen times in the past year. I’m not a fan of the other MK TS, especially for the price. I’m thinking that, since I’ll be solo, I’d like to try something different.

We ate at the bar last September, crab cakes, yummy, with no issues at all. It was around 12:30 I think.

You can mobile order Kona Cafe at Poly and hang out in the lobby. Just take the TTC ferry and walk over. This can have a delay, so make sure you check how far ahead you need to order.

We did a walk up for lunch (for 2), hardly a wait at all. So if for some reason the bar is full you could probably get a table anyway.
