my dh ordered the burger for lunch. he read every item in the burger before ordering on the qr menu scan. he opened the burger to put ketchup on it and asked the server what a particular item was inside as he didn't recognize it as part of the list he read online (pickles, lettuce, etc. the usual)....our server didn't know. she asked, waited, found out it was pork belly strips. my husband (due to religious reasons) won't eat pork or ham products. they brought it back for a new burger of course but when he asked why pork belly wasn't an item listed on the menu she didn't know and then said she wished she could have helped but without her visually seeing menus anymore she isn't as familiar with the products being served and ingredients inside, leaving her at a serving weakness to help guests. if he hadn't of opened the burger he would have eaten something not listed and something he cannot eat.

So the servers don’t know what they’re serving? I don’t buy it. They should have been trained on the menu. When we ate there, we asked our server what another family was eating and she knew exactly what it was.

It's very strange that the menu doesn't list the pork belly. I know it comes with pork belly as I've watched several dining reviews of the restaurant. You might want to send an email...or call the restaurant and speak to the manager.

That's a terrible situation. The menu should have definitely shown all the components.

Just curious though, did the server ask about dietary restrictions? IIRC, that's one of their first questions even before ordering.

No, she did not. And she seemed very nervous upon returning the new burger because she asked if it was an allergy situation which it wasn't. and we just said he prefers not to eat that type of food. but she definitely was nervous about that part after the fact.

also my husband went back on the qr scan menu after she said pork belly to make sure he didn't make a mistake and not notice it. it was not listed.

This is obviously very bad. Did you speak to a manager before leaving the restaurant?

No, i did not. my husband for sure wouldn't want to make a fuss. he just felt like i got a new burger so i'm happy. they didn't even compensate for the wait. i had finished my food by the time his came back out.

i wouldn't mind contacting them via email or phone though if someone knew how to follow it up that would be helpful.

I watched a YouTube review of this item and the diner mentioned that the pork wasn’t in the menu description. I’m sorry to hear they haven’t fixed that oversight and that it impacted your meal there.

Wow - serious failure. Please be sure to talk to restaurant management so they can correct this. Its dangerous to those who do have food allergies.

It's not about making a fuss. It's about a serious communications and training breakdown that could result in a bad outcome. And while it would be nice if the server could internalize this incident and learn from it, the only way to ensure it doesn't happen again is to elevate it to management. You are, in essence, paying it forward and preventing another diner from having a similar experience.

Thank you for sharing your experience. So glad he thought to check it before co summing. I’m assuming the pork belly was their fancy way of making it a bacon burger while neglecting to mention pork.

Strange, I wonder if this is a new addition. My DH had the burger for lunch at steakhouse 71 on October 2nd, the second day it was open. There was no pork belly strips or bacon on it.

I te resting and sounds like the menu was made before the addition of pork belly. Thanks for sharing. I swear someone here can answer any question 💗
