A bit late to report but we did have a nice dinner at Steakhouse 55 on Saturday evening. We arrived early and had a drink at the lounge while waiting for our table. I wouldn't call it stellar service by the waitress (I don't like napkins just thrown on a table in front of me) but the drink itself was quite good. We just sat and chatted for a bit watching the line over at Goofy's get longer and longer.
Dinner time arrived and we had a table for two that was, unfortunately, stuffed in a back corner. I know, someone has to sit there at some point but I would have enjoyed being more toward the center.
Our waiter was great. Bread came out warm and tasty. They still have the 3-course prie-fixe meal for $35 and it's a great deal: Ceasar salad with an olive tapenade crostini, a petit fillet, and their tart of the day. We didn't go for it and ordered ala carte: We split an appetizer of the Portobello mushroom in a fantastic reduction, seven onion soup for both of us, Rack of lamb for partner, Porterhouse steak for me, and sides of sauted spinach and macarroni and cheese (both very tasty). We also did a glass of chardonnay with our appetizer and soup and a pinot noir for our entrees. The wine list is VERY affordable and the wine by the glass is also priced well.
The only real "complaint" with the meal was that a portion of the rack of lamb was closer to medium well than medium rare. My Porterhouse, medium rare, was very good.
Off to Hook's Pointe this weekend.....anyone like to comment on that one?
