Steakhouse 55

Wouldn't SH55 also have steak on their breakfast menu? Steak & eggs are a big fave in this family. :)

Didn't think about that. I just checked and they do. No hash browns though, even for breakfast. :sad1: Most places don't do them right anyway.

No kidding!!!! Heck even I have a hard time doing them right! LOL I like mine crispy on the outside and warm in the middle, how do you like yours?

Mmmm...... hashbrowns. As PinkBudgie knows, I always used to request that our mom make steak and hashbrowns for my b-day dinner every year. Yummy!

The main thing to remember when making hashbrowns is to rinse the shredded potatoes before you cook them. If you don't, they turn into gluey gray globs. :scared: Yuck. I make them every once in awhile but not very often. One time DH was in this group with some of our friends where they went to different houses and cooked a meal together. Well, one time they were at our house making breakfast for dinner and they decided to make hashbrowns. No one realized they were supposed to rinse the potatoes and when I came home they had this pile of gray ickiness sitting in a bowl on the table along with the rest of the edible food. :rotfl:

Okay, sorry that was a bit off topic. SH55 sounds really good though. We might have to try it sometime (if I can overlook the crazy prices). Maybe it would be a nice place to go for our anniversary dinner in July.

They do an amazing Prix Fixe dinner... that's where you get a starter, entree, and dessert for the set price of $29. when we had it, the waiter tried to tell hubby it may not be enough for him, we ordered a side of asparagus as well, which was huge and plenty for the 2 of us, and it ended up we could not even finish our whole meals! they were huge! they call it a petite steak in the prix fixe dinner, but it was a normal size steak to us. We would definitely do it again! We had a full 3 course dinner and drinks for the same price it would have been for just 2 entrees. We eat there often for breakfast...it is amazing! You can't see into the dining room from the lobby, so it's hard to tell how full it is from outside.... every morning we ate breakfast there it was pretty much full. I can not wait to be back there again!!! and family friendly yes... there was a child of about 4 who had moved 3 chairs together at the family's table and gone to sleep! lol...

Ok, by popular demand- it was Cole's Chop House. :rotfl: They had the best hash browns as a side with dinner! Yum! I was hoping Steakhouse 55 might do that too but didn't see it on the menu. Oh well I'm sure their potatoes are good too.

Thought it might be. Yes, Cole's is a very good meal.

With all this talk of how good Steakhouse 55 is, I may just have to give it a shot.

That is exactly how I like them! :thumbsup2
The worst hashbrowns I ever had were on the Queen Mary. Tasted like dirt.
Smiley- I did see they had that Prix Fixe dinner. It sounded good but I wasn't sure how it was. I will keep it in mind. :thumbsup2 Now that I have all the info I have to see what DH wants to do.

My guess is he'll want to go for dinner and have the large filet mignon with mushrooms. ;) Probably about $50 just for him! :scared1:

:thumbsup2 My DBF would be the same way, he'd want the most $$$$$ cut of meat cooked just like he likes it. LOL I'd do that Prix Fixe dinner, no problem!! That sounds awesome! :)

Well if it's his birthday, then he gets his pick right!? They made the best Blue Hawaiian I've had outside of Hawaii too! mmmmmm makes me want to be there right now!

Hey Pink budgie...totally off topic... my hubby loves your avatar pic! is that your budgie? is it really pink? Very cool!

Thank you! She was really light blue but I colored her pink in photoshop. :) She died about a year and a half ago. We have a green budgie now named Buzz Lightyear. :rotfl: And I'm still looking for a parrotlett. DH would love to have about 10 budgies!

I showed DH the menu and this place sounded good to him but now we decided to go to Steakhouse 55 for our anniversary dinner instead. We were planning on going to the Blue Bayou but it seemed like it was almost as much as SH55 and probably not as good food-wise.

For his birthday we will probably eat lunch at Cafe Orleans so I can try those fries and he will get a sandwhich or something. I think the rest of the days we will do CS.

We had budgie brothers... they were from the same batch of eggs. There names were Hank and Jake... :lmao: don't ask me why! They lived to be about 15 years old! When Jake got a tumor and died, Hank died just a couple of weeks later, we thought from lonliness :sad1: it was very sad. We have been looking at them again lately.... My other pet is a fire belly toad who is now 16 years old!
Sorry everyone for going so far off topic.... let's see...if we get new budgies, there names will be Disney for sure! I'm thinking something piratey.... Captain Jack and Barbosa maybe....

I know we will get more birds too. Captian Jack is an awesome name for a bird! :thumbsup2 I'm sure any others will get will have a Disney name also. :goodvibes

What fries? At Cafe Orleans have the gumbo with dirty rice..my next visit I am heading straight there and get a BIG bowl.

Pommes Frites - Traditional French-fried potatoes tossed with Parmesan cheese, garlic and parsley, served with a Cajun spice remoulade. This is from the menu listing at All Ears. They are supposed to be very good. :)

Well, reading this thread convinced me to call and make a reservation for tonight. We'll drive down around 4ish, poke around the park a bit, and then head to SH55 for a 7:50 dinner reservation. Never had dinner when it was Granville's though we did have breakfast there a couple of times. Looking forward to tonight!

Well, you will get to it before me. Let me know what you think and how the prices are now. The menu on All Ears is a year old. Have fun!!!! :)

We ate at CO in Feb, we paid just under $50 for the 4 of us with tip. DD12 chose off the kids menu and we all shared some Pomme Frites. They are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good.....I could eat just Pomme Frites for a meal. :)
