Steakhouse 55 or Napa Rose?

We have eaten most every where else in and around Disneyland--but never those two. Have you ever eaten there, and what did you think? I have Blue Bayou reserved for one night, but the next night we want to try somewhere else.

The other option is that we went to the Japanese restaurant that is located in the Paradise Pier lobby a long time ago--when the hotel use to be called something else. The food was pretty good, and my kids are asking to go there again because they all love Japanese food. Has anyone eaten there lately?

I've been to Napa Rose and HIGHLY recommend it! The food is wonderful and the atmosphere is second to none, that's why it's rated at a 5 star! I had a tasting menu of 6 courses when I was there and the one course I remember was Tazmanian Sea-Bass....*drools* boy was that good!

We love both. Different experiences. I think it depends on the type of food you like most. Romantic=Napa Rose, chef's table. Worth the $$$$$$.

Thanks guys, I will go look for the menus. I think if it were just husband and me we would choose Napa Rose, no questions. My kids don't just like "typical kid food" (we go to nicer restaurants every Sat. night as a family and they have had it all), but they LOVE Sushi and japanese food, so they may be begging to do that instead.

It seems like no too many people eat at the japanese restuarant--I wondered if it just wasn't that good?

The sea bass at the Napa Rose sounds awsome!

My kids ages are 7, 11, and 13, so it is easier to eat out with them than it use to be. We ALWAYS go to Goofy's kitchen each time we go, but we have all been thinking we should try something new as it seemed not as fun for them last time with the characters. We always end our trip with the critter's breakfast at the GC, so we still will do that.

Hmm.. I don't know that much about the Japanese restaurant. But like I said, Napa Rose was great. I've eaten at Emeril's Restaurant in Las Vegas, and to compare the two, I'd have to say the seasonings at Napa Rose were better, the atmosphere was better, but the portions at Emerils were larger, and it took WAY longer to eat in between courses. Overall, what I'm trying to say is, I'd give Napa Rose a try, but again, make priority seating arrangements WAY in advance, it's a VERY popular place.

I have never gone to Napa Rose, but I've been to Steakhouse 55 several times, and am going back again on Sunday. It is a nice, quiet place, and I enjoy it very much. We like to get the prix fixe menu items, otherwise we couldn't really afford to eat a dessert along with our entree. Steakhouse 55 used to be called Granville's, but the name is the only thing that changed.

If you are talking about Yamabuki my family and I eat there everytime we go and the food is great . We also love Steak House 55 but we haven't gone since May 06 and it was called Granvilles then but I heard the food is the same and we loved it .

I have never tried Napa Rose but the menu looks good . Me and my family always make sure we eat at both Yamabuki at the Paradise Peir hotel and at Steak House 55 formally known as Granvilles every visit and we plan to do so again when we go in November . I hope this helps .

With kids, probably 55 would be better. Each time we have been there it has been quiet and the service excellent. I find that Mortons or Ruth does a better steak, but they are not close to DLR.

We have dined at all three many times. Napa Rose is the best restaurant on site, without doubt. The service and menu are outstanding. That said, your children would likely enjoy Yamabuki much more. It has been remodeled recently and the ambiance is very nice. We've gone there twice this year and the sushi is very good. A little overpriced, but all Disney restaurants are. The service was a little slow, but we really enjoy our meals here. Their sushi menu is limited, but all the rolls and two piece fish items we ordered were tasty. Tempura, Edamame and Miso soup are good, too. My final comments will address Steakhouse 55. Unlike most of the posters here, we have tried it twice and were disappointed both times. The steak and service were just so-so and the prices high. Even the salad and onion soup were subpar. I guess that's what makes this a good board, we all have our own opinions!
