I was having a conversation with someone about the way I eat my steak. I like only filet mignon(sp) pink but any other steak well done. My friend told me that doesn't make any sense. We got in a sort of discussion about it. He couldn't understand that that is the way I eat steak. He said filet mignon is steak too and I understand that but I just like certain cuts of meat cooked differently when it comes to steak.

Am I crazy?

No, you're not crazy! And I love Snickers :dog: :love2:

I don't thick that's crazy at all. I like my steak medium-well, but can eat a filet a little less done than that. Hamburgers & roast beef have to be well-done.

No you aren't crazy. I don't like seafood and it always amazes me how that seems to upset people. I don't care if they like it, why do they care that I don't? :confused3 If everyone liked the same things it would be a very boring world.

I don't like steak. Ewww..

But, I'm happy to let you eat it anyway that you like! :earsgirl:

I like my steak rare. Knock the horns and hooves off carry it by the fire and slap it on the plate.

I don't like filets. They taste very different then other cuts like NY strips (my fav). That's probably why you like them cooked different. They really don't have the same taste as other cuts.

Sounds sane to me. Filet Mignon is a lean cut with minimum fat. Well done kind of ruins it. That's the only cut I like fairly rare. I dislike a fatty steak that is rare however. Medium is fine for me. Actually I like Pot Roast which is taking it to the extreme. I can't handle rare hamburger either. That has to be well done for me to eat it.

Everything has to be well done for me, DH jokes that is has to be a part of the grill before I will eat it. We have a niece that likes everything rare, her line is "show it to the grill and bring it to me". You like what you like, it may not make sense to them, but it's what you like. End of story.

This is so me, too! I tell everyone, just go slaughter the cow and slap some on my plate! :rotfl:

Me too - when I'm asked, I say I want mine "still mooin'!" :earboy2:

edited for spelling - I wrote mooning instead of mooing! :earseek: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

No you aren't crazy and I agree with you. Filet mignons are my absolute fave because you can (usually) eat the whole steak and not have any nasty gristly fat on it :)

Well call me stupid! I never really knew that. I always ordered my filets well done and never really cared for them -- didn't know what the fuss was all about. I'll have to order them medium next time and see if I like it any better.

But for the most part I like my steaks well done. I order them medium well so the restaurant doesn't dry them out and burn them, but when I make them myself, they're well.

You should always cook your burgers a lot more than your steaks (well, unless you like steak well done). There's a lot less chance of any harm coming to you from eating a steak that's pink inside than a burger that's pink because with a steak, the part that is subject to contamination is the outside, and that's being cooked the most. With a burger, it's all being ground up and mixed together, so you run the risk of not cooking something well enough on the inside that could be contaminated.
