Anyone else ever have a problem with steaks being undercooked at LeCellier? We ate there 2 weeks ago and they had undercooked both my husbabnd and my steak...my steak was more to my husbands liking so he took that and they redid one for me, the second one was still undercooked so we left with that...I was full from eating 2 plates of the mushroom risotto by then! They comped us one of our TS credits but I was just wondering if this was an issue often? I was so dissapointed because the steak was SO good until I got past the end!!

I read this and wondered how they managed to undercook her husband.

Can't answer, haven't been to Le Cellier.

Not sure about this. When we ate there last Oct. the table next to us had all kinds of problems with underdone/overdone steaks. I think 4 out of 6 people had to send their's back. However ours came out perfectly just as ordered and I know we ordered the same item and same "doneness" as some at the other table. I just put it up as bad luck on their part. I have not heard of this happening on a regular basis.

I've found that various steak restaurants have different opinions as to what is "medium rare," what is "medium" and what is "done." I like mine pink in the middle and would consider it medium rare most places, but order it "medium" at Outback and it's usually perfect. I try to specify what I want when I order so that the server can place the order properly - he/she knows more about how the chef cooks than I do. My steak at LC last year was terrific! Sorry you were disappointed.

How did you order them?

Alot of people have different interpretations of what Medium Rare and Rare are compared to "real" Steakhouses and generally the Steakhouse Medium Rare is less cooked than what alot of people who order Medium Rare really want ... Hope that makes sense.

I have eaten at Le Cellier many times ordered Medium Rare and got the Red Center like it should be -- If the dead center is pink inside that is Medium -- No Pink is Well Done.

I like mine closer to the really rare .....so I say just rare......but medium rare is what hubby gets and he got his like a pink shade.....where as mine was more red.......I guess I am a carnivore....we ate at Le Cellier two weeks ago and I wish I had tried a bite of my friends risotta........sounds like it was good.....but we were full of BREAD sticks.....

I ordered well (and so not mind if it is a bit pink) but both times it was still bloody juice when I cut into it, husband ordered medium and got rare (barely cooked rare) Believe me the second time I made sure the waitress knew how I wanted it.

If you ordered Well and Medium and Got red in your Steaks -- than they definitely undercooked them --- From my own experience and from what I have read on this and other boards , that is not the Norm for Le Cellier -- Lets hope this in an off night and not a trend. Sorry for your experience.

Hopefully this isn't anything that is frequent but I do have to agree with the other posters about how each restaurant cooks their steaks and burgers. We lived in the Midwest for 12 years and I got very used to ordering my steaks medium because that was perfect for me. Slightly pink or even more pink. Then we moved here to the Atlanta area and I have to order it medium rare. It took me eight years to finally get the right thing to say "medium but on the rare side". My husband also had to change his from medium well to just medium.

Last 2 times we went to LC steaks were cooked how we ordered them. Now the Yachtsman was another story, went in early April, DH ordered his rib eye med well and it came out med rare...freaked him out because his mashed potatoes were red! I ordered my filet med and it also came out med rare but I ate it all but a part of the middle that I could not choke down...it was purple red and cold!

Yup! I agree...often it is in the interpetation of what medium vs medium rare vs rare actually mean to that specific steak house.

I have eaten at Le Cellier a couple of times, ask for medium rare & am served perfectly cooked steak to my taste, slightly red in the center with lots of juice when cutting! If I wasn't satisfied, I would just send it back & try again!

husband just reminded me of the time I asked for raw.......I was joking but wanted it really rare.......when it came out......the lady whose table was very close to ours asked " Did you order salmon?" I looked down at my meal and oh baby....it was raw.......the outside was as red as the inside......I sent it back and they turned it over a few times and back it came.....just the way I like it....So again the way I wanted it was different then the cook probably knew what I was taking about.
SO when we did a few buffets ......like Crystal Palace and their prime rib.....the server asked me how I would like it.....the cooked one or the rare one.......I said I will take it really really rare..........she said OH GOOD.....and gave me a big slice of perfect prime rib.....

LOL!! That's funny!! Totally gross though! I can't imagine a cook serving a client a piece of "not even hitting the pan" meat! There's rare & than there's RARE!!!!

We've had issues with doneness on our last 3 LeC visits but it has always been over. I'm not picky and will eat anything from rare to barely pink but gray all the way through is what we have been getting whether ordering medium like we do in a "real" steakhouse or even medium rare. We haven't sent back though because we have waited so long past our ADR time and so long for our meals that we just leave relatively unsatisfied yet for some reason keep trying again....

I've been disappointed with Le Cellier a couple of times, but because the steaks were overdone.

whenever (and wherever) we order steak, i tend to get very "descriptive" about what i want, including excessive adjectives and hand motions (as if that's going to help....) - DH likes his steak well-done (easy enough) whereas i want mine more medium (but not mooing...)
