I've read a few threads saying that they have greatly reduced the size of the steak and mac and cheese entree at Jiko.

I was planning on making that our special dinner for March, but don't want to if the portion size has changed. I have a DH and a 17 year old who LOVE steak but can eat a good deal.

Does anyone have any recent experience?

We were just there in October and I'd say that is true. There is definitely less mac and cheese. Although I think the steak is probably the same size as before. I'll still go back and order it again.

So in your opinion it was worth the money or 2 TS? I'm debating between Jiko, California Grill and Yachtsman.

I love Jiko and it's by far my favorite restaurant on property. As for the portion size on the Filet, I think it's pretty standard when it comes to a filet. (i.e. what I would expect when ordering a filet) Now as far as the mac & cheese goes, I LOVE mac & cheese, so I could eat an entire bowl full of it, so I never think there's enough! But, I didn't notice a huge change from the last time I went.

We ate at Jiko for the first time in Oct 2008. While we are not on the dining plan we felt that everything was FANTASTIC!

I beg to differ on the portion sizing though.

My filet and my parents lamb were VERY generous portions.

I would guess 8 to 10 ounces for the filet and...12 to 14 ounces of lamb tenderloin.

Of the three I'd be torn between Jiko & California Grill.

I've eaten at all three and I was underwhelmed by Yachtsman.

Jiko is more exotic food and a nice atmosphere.

California Grill is, in my opinion, more "traditional" or less "adventerous" if you were to classify it compared to Jiko. But the atmosphere is outstanding!

Tink thank you so much for the pictures!!!! Yep I think they would enjoy that! I'm giong to show them the pics tonight!

DH and I went there last month and I would say it was the size of an apple, a Red Delish apple. DH thought the steak was too small but it was more than enough for me and he had to finish my last 3 bites. BUT we had drinks, we each had an appie and the bread of course so maybe I was full from that?

Either way Jiko is insanely amazing and no matter what the size of the filet it rocks!

Oh My Goodness! I had this twice on our last trip, after our first visit to Jiko, we loved it so much we went again later in our trip (we were there for 21 nights). I had that Filet both times. OH it was so good, that picture is making me so hungry :rotfl: .

I would say that Jiko is worth 2 TS credits.

Don't see why you couldn't ask for extra mac and cheese.

Ordering an entire bowl full of the mac & cheese is also an option. I've made a dinner out of a couple of appetizers and an order of that wonderful mac & cheese. I believe it gets rung up as the child's mac & cheese and costs around $6.
