Steak and shake

My local S&S currently has a specialty shake called Key Lime Pie. Sounds a little strange for a shake but it is wonderful! Be sure someone in your group orders one.....

Good food // My favorite for a burger and DH likes other thngs on the mentu too. The one thing we were exicited about when we moved to St. Louis is that there are Steak n Shakes all over here. Note, though, make sure to tell your waiter / waitress every item you would like them to put on your burger. Unlike many resturants that include standard items on a burger, they will give you a plain one if you don't mention anything.

Best thing about steak n shake is their fries! I love their fries.

I did not care for the fries but the 4 others I was with enjoyed them a lot. They also got the chili fries.

We eat at Steak and Shake fairly often at home. They always have local coupons for a $4 meal, they also have four or five meals that are always under $4.

It is basically fast food served to your table, they also have a drive through. They do cook most ingredients fresh. I know their beef is fresh as opposed from being made from a frozen patty. Their burger patties are very thin, so a double is about the same as a burger at most fast food joints.

Their fries are a big disappointment to us. Very thin and because of that they get cold very fast.

The extremely thin fries are one of the things we really like about Steak & Shake. They do get cold rather fast so think about eating them first to get the best flavor. I always do that & the burger/sandwich seems to wait for me to be ready just fine. Nice, low cost meal in a fifty's atmosphere.

Similar. I'm surprised at all the hoopla. It's just a very inexpensive hamburger place really.

If you get RedPlum or SmartSource coupon books in your Sunday newspaper in your area and have local Steak and Shake restaurants. Check them for coupons. I don't see anything on our local coupons indicating that they must be used locally. I think they can be used nationwide.

If you are also planing a stop at Outback or Olive Garden, they have $5 and $4 off two entrée coupons respectively.

I tend to think of Steak and Shake as glorified fast food, not that it's not good, but nothing fancy. But I like the way they cook the burgers and the shakes are really, really, really good. There are three around here: the one just off 535 by the Crossroads shopping center, the one on 192 near Medieval Times, and the one just off 417 at Orange Blossom Trail. I usually go to the OBT one because 535 is a pain with all the Disney traffic (although not bad if you're staying right over there) and the 192 area is rather sleazy. If I go out that way, it's only for El Tenampa (best authentic Mexican food this side of the border).

Steak and Shake is good. I love the Milk Shakes and Chili bowl. Burgers and fries are decently priced. Service is usually pretty good.

We enjoy Steak & Shake every once in a while. I like that the burgers, while still fast food, are cooked fresh. They have a "snack pack" for $2.89 that has a single burger, small fry and small drink. I went with my kids for breakfast last week....we had the chocolate chip pancakes...oh my! I had a sugar rush at breakfast! $2.99 each for the pancakes for myself and DD8......then $1.00 for my DS3's silver dollar kids pancakes...made for a cheap, but fun breakfast.

I guess its what you are use to. We have one in our town and its really no big deal! I don't like the skinny fries and the burgers are OK, but I do like thicker burgers better. The shakes are good, but once again nothing special.
