Hi everyone! After a lot of lurking around here I finally decided to just join up :wave2:

I have been obsessing over planning a future WDW for ages now, and I have heard that to really get around the parks, 7-8 days would be a minimum, so I will be aiming for that for my trip in either 2013/14 and probably fit in a day or two for Universal/anything else as well.

Although this will be my (and my bf's) first time in the states, we don't really plan on going anywhere else (besides maybe a quick stopover in LA between flights). As my bf has limited holiday leave and there other matters to deal with, I think that it would be easier/nicer to take it easy and just immerse ourselves in the world and not stress about affording to travel to 20 other destinations.

Has anyone else been on a short trip to wdw, just for wdw? I hope I don't sound crazy :rotfl:

My mum, dad and brother did 10 days in the US and just did WDW. My brother was in year 12 at the time, so they couldn't take any more time then that.

They had a ball, but be warned, it's just enough time to get addicted... :rotfl:

Oh and Welcome to the boards! :cheer2:

Welcome to the boards.

My shortest trip to WDW was 4 nights/3 days. I fitted in a day at Islands of Adventure to Mickey cheat with Harry and then the rest of the time at the World. I did spend 2 nights afterwards at Silicon Valley...but all things considered, I would probably have travelled that distance just to go to IoA and WDW.

thanks guys!

And yes I am too afraid of getting addicted and never wanting to leave.Ever :hyper:
I'm planning to go in early December to be surrounded by all the Christmas spirit, which might make it even harder to leave :(

I feel bad for having to cheat on Mickey, but definitely can't pass up on seeing wwohp ::yes::

Welcome from me too. I haven't been on these boards that long, but everyone here is so friendly and helpful. :goodvibes

There is plenty to do in wdw, and you will have a wonderful holiday just going there. I think most of us here with families are spending $7-8000 on airfares, which we are unlikely to ever do again, so want to get as much out of it as possible, that's why we keep adding on.

I agree, the airfares are the killer expense.

Forty trip next year we need broken flights from Melbourne o Barcelona
We will sail from Spain & then need flights from Orlando home again.
We will be staying 10 days in Orlando

Thank you! Everyone is definitely so welcoming and friendly :goodvibes

Yes airfares are killers! We're looking at renting dvc points for our stay, and one return airfare almost costs more than a week at BLT D: the lowest fare I have seen so far for syd-orlando return is probably $1400 ish, which isn't bad compared to $2000 ><

thanks @battymum, I know I'll be taking my future kids to disney one day and not looking forward to how much saving will be needed, must enjoy it while I can now :yay:

My flights will be approx $2500 each ..... Yikes

Oh the savings we got on the cruise tho...!
14 nights transatlantic from Spain here we come
Followed by 6 days disney & 4 at Universal.
The airfares will all be worth it :)

A trip to the US just to do WDW is not at all mad, and in 10 days you can do enough with some still to spare for next time ;-)

Next year we have a 3 week Disneyfest planned - cruise, world and land!

I'm no expert on Australian airfares, but that sounds like a really good price to me.

That's a good price, try to avoid school holidays, the airfares will jump!

I agree,it'll be worth it in the end :)

The $1400 I found a week or two ago for early-mid dec! Except I don't think I could risk waiting too close to my travel dates, especially now they're back at $2000 again :P

lol thank you! I feel much less guilty now :D Sometimes I really think about moving there just so I can have frequent trips to wdw but that would never happen :(

Your 3 week trip sounds wonderful! I would look into going on one of the cruises if I wasn't so afraid of them :rotfl:

Yes we all think about that from time to time, it's part of the addiction, but then I think we unanimously agree that we would never live anywhere else!

Ten days would be good. We always add on days and weeks due to the cost of flights as the others have said. I would take $1400 to Orlando any day, the cheapest to LA these days is around $1200 unless a super dooper sale is on, so the extra $200 to Florida is a bargain.

I was extremely tempted to book those flights and jump on the plane the next day but then I would have no money to spend once I got there
Mostly I check airfares on student flight websites, sometimes prices will be cheaper, but mostly the same, just have to be lucky in finding them! :surfweb:

Hi from me too! We spent 8 days in WDW in 2008 as a surprise graduation present for our daughter-just visiting WDW it was enough time without being too rushed-though any longer is a bonus of course. We had 24 hours in San Francisco as a stopover on the way over because at the time the airfare deal I got happened to be cheaper via SF than LAX. We saw an amazing amount of SF considering we only had 1 day-we couldn't get any longer off work to stay away longer or I would have spent an extra day or two there. It was also December and was the most magical time at WDW and really felt like a special Xmas.
