Hi All:

I have been on WW for a few months and lost 20 lbs. Hopefully it will be at least another 20 my the time I go to Disney (June). Anyone have any tips for staying on program while at Disney ?

do a search becasue there have been a few threads about this...

you can definitely do it - I'm on atkins (and I keep kosher - talk about a tough combo!) so I plan out all my meals very carefully! I read all the menus on allearsnet.com and figure out which ones have salad (lunch) or fish (dinner) and where I'll be when... like in MK a lot of the tomorrowland/main street resturants have salas but I'm never near there at lunch time LOL

i try to take a list with me otherwise I forget - I forgot my list at sea world in June and it was our first time there so everyone (my five, my parents AND my in-laws! oy!) was mildly annoyed that I couldn't just eat some place - I had to go in and look at every menu... so it's way nicer to say "oh here's voyagers, they have salads" (see I remember now!!)

congrats on losing 20 pounds! KUTGW! (and wear a pedometer at the parks :woohoo: :yay: )

I am also on weight watchers, I lost 38 lbs. so far :cheer2: I am not going to Disney untill 2007 and hopefully I will be at my goal weight. I think I will just eat what I want for the week but eat smaller amounts so I will not feel deprived. You are on vacation after all and you will be doing all that walking in the parks. Congrats on the weight loss and keep up the good work.

Disney is really pretty Weight Watcher's Friendly....there are LOTS of healthy choices to make...even in choosing "snacks" around the park....strawberry fruit bars (I believe are 2 points), Frozen Banana's (I believe are 3) - and the are ALWAYS places to pick up some fruit for a REALLY healthy snack....another good way to indugle with "compromise" is to substitute the carrot sticks for the "fries" if you're any counter service combo's...most every place will allow that substitution.

My best approach (being a lifetime member having lost a little over 100 pounds 17 years ago...and visiting WDW at LEAST once a year every one of those years!) is to allow myself ONE indulgence each day..this way I can work my absolute "favorites" into my experience....and knowing that I have PLANNED to allow myself one REAL treat each day, I'm better able to make the "compromised" choices for the rest of the day....the good choices are there....the HARD part is MAKING them my choice! But this approach has worked for me...and DO wear your pedometer....you'll be AMAZED at how much walking you'll do - and ALSO understand how the ine indulgence a day won't put all your great success in jeopardy!!!

ENJOY and CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :cheer2: :yay:

I'm a lifer and I lost 40 pounds. I've been to FL twice since I lost the weight and had absolutely no problems either of the times. I did A LOT of walking, and I made a point of staying very healthy most of the time...the odd time I'd have fries or dessert. Walking on the sand is a good workout too!! It's hard to count restaurant points, but just make reasonable entree choices.

WDW has some really yummy salads. I like the one at Flame Tree BBQ at AK- it has lots of lettuce/veggies, grilled chicken and a viniagrette dressing and it tastes SO good.

::yes:: I should have added that - every salad has been super yummy! I never feel deprived :)

there has been some great suggestions for staying OP (on plan) at WDW on the WISH board -- you can link there in my signature and then search the board. We'd love to have you join our healthy discussions at WISH!

I'm also a lifer who went to Disney last fall while trying to lose baby weight and here's my take on it. I didn't want to deprive myself as this was our 10th anniversary trip without the kids. So, yes, while I ate a little more (mostly at dinner) than I normally do at home, I walked 10 times more than I ever do at home! I ended up losing 2 pounds while at WDW- no doubt due to all the exercise! Go and have fun!

I'm on WW too just made lifetime in Oct. Don't forget all the walking you are going to be doing. It has got to be worth a extra couple of points. :cool1:
Good Luck
