My lovely DH has said we can go to DLP in summer, but on a budget. We have always stayed on site, but may not beable to this time due to pennies. Anyone got any experiences of offsite? Where have you stayed? How much approx? Who do you book with?

Ta!!! :goodvibes

I've stayed in the Explorers Hotel and ignoring the breakfast its a nice hotel.

Booked through expedia.co.uk you can can get some great rates if you book last minute.

Have also stayed further afield (10 mins on RER) at Bussey St Georges, For 5 days at the end of August it was like £130 (for 2 with breakfast) or something silly. This was expedia again.

Enter Disneyland Paris as the desitnation and it will show prices for the local areas.

The holiday inn have some very good prices if you book on there website. prices were about 69 to 120 euros a room.

We've stayed at the Holiday Inn and you are not too far away from the magic.
Apart from the expensive breakfast; unless it is part of your room rate, it is a good family hotel with excellent pool.

I am not sure how practical it is with a small baby (although we have seen them here) So I suppose it depends on how limted your budget is against luxury.

How do you find this hotel?? I have stayed in a Formula 1 up in Doncaster and although basic was good enough for somewhere to lay my head.

How do you travel to the parks at Disney, is the transportation good??

Me & DF have stayed here 3 times & I have another planned for Sept '06.

It offers everything we need for a few nights away, I save like mad for my main holiday but all mini-breaks are done on the cheap!

We drive there via P&O ferry's and also drive to & from the parks just 15mins away.

While it isnt in the middle of nowhere I cant ever remember seeing public transportation nearby. If you dont want to drive out at night there is a pizza place & a steakhouse within walking distance but we tend to go back to Disney Village.

We're using www.benotel.com for our trip in October to book the Explorers. It seemed to have the best rates when I looked and the hotle is on the bus rout and apparently very child friendly. :goodvibes

I dont understand how people say they save money by staying offsite. I have been trying to keep the cost of our holiday down this year but have once again booked with Disney Direct for the Cheyenne. Party is 3 adults (as my son is 19) and one child. Staying for 4 nights/5 days. Flying from Newcastle to CDG, 23 October returning 27 October.

I have paid £1519 with Disney all-in (room, flights, transfers, park tickets). When pricing other options, the items that are constant are ...

5 Day Park Tickets £530
Flights £624
VEA Shuttle £85
-----------------------------------------
Total £1239

When I checked with other hotels (using their own websites and operators to get the best & current prices) Iget this ...

Holiday Inn £1629 (£390)
Explorers £1754 (£515)
Kyriad £1624 (£385)

The only package that came close was a tour operator offering the Holiday Inn at £1579.

So .... how do you save money ? :confused3

I've just booked to go again August Bank Holiday weekend. Flying out Thursday evening and flying home Monday morning, total price for flights to 2 adults flying from Luton to CDG was £106. Am now off to book the Formula 1 hotel which is on the RER train line and thats €31 a night. As we are going twice this year, we are upgrading our 2 day park hoper to a annual pass, they are around €139 / €159 and come with a few perks. I think thats quite cheap if you ask me.

It wouldn't work for you as you are visiting during blackout days - but many people would be able to buy the Fantasy APs, which seem to be a lot cheaper than the 5 day ticket price you've mentioned.

And for us, living close to Liverpool airport, we can often get some great deals with Easyjet.

This all helps!!

Annual passports as has been stated can help along with cheap travel promotions at the time.
As you quote the independent route is not always the cheapest so it is worth pricing up for individual trips :)

In the past we've booked packages, I had looked into doing it all seperately to try and squeeze in another budget trip this year and come up with the same problem every time, I can't get cheap flights from our local airports (Cardiff - BMI Baby & Bristol - BA) to CDG.

So whilst the offsite hotels are cheaper, unless DLRP have their 3 for 2 etc. special offers on, the flights bump it up so much and then when I add hopper tickets or AP's - I'm back upto package prices. :confused3

Thanks for the replies - going through those and the other threads I went back to the websites and checked using other dates. The "blackout" dates are my problem. We have to go during school holidays, and outside these dates it is cheaper. Going more than once a year would mean getting APs and theres big savings with that.

Looks like its just a combination of when we want to go and where we fly from. After all that though, I still think its value for money and the best holiday we could have :Pinkbounc

<Edit> My wife has just convinced me that next year we will be going for 2 nights in the summer and 3 nights at halloween, looks like two shorter holidays for the price of one pirate:

We have an Ap and are going over the first half term week end. The holiday inn was 70 euros a night for 3 nights and The flights from Tenerife are always cheaper if I book them myself although they then come with a stop in Madrid.
Rememberin that this is a 4 star hotel. The Cheyenne was 300 euros more expensive even allowing for a shareholders discount.
This is how its can be cheaper.
