I've never been to a Disney resort and wonder if you stay offsite, are you allowed to be on the Disney resorts property? I know we obviously can't use their pools, etc, but how about walking around, dining, etc. What exactly is there to do and is it available to people staying offsite? TIA!!

I can answer this!

Most of the resorts won't let you park there unless you have a dining reservation. So, certainly, you can walk around and just explore the resorts but you would need to access them without your car (bus/monorail would be fine).

If you have an ADR for dining, you will be on their list at the gate for that day. You will be allowed to park. Some resorts are more lenient than others. Those on the monorail system usually give you a 3 hour parking pass, others just wave you through.

We visited many of the resorts in December to see the decorations and had no problem parking without ADRs. The only exception was on Christmas Day when we went to GF - they had a list of everyone with an ADR - luckily we were on that list :) As long as you have photo ID to show there wasn't any problem anywhere else.

Your experience was better than mine! I found both the Polynesian and the Animal Kingdom to be quite strict. Also, the Beach Club. They each had a clipboard and looked up my name. I don't know what they would have done had I not been on the list.

For instance, you could go to the Polynesian and rent one of their fun little speedboats and zip around Lake Disney for an afternoon! :thumbsup2 (They also have sailboats, pontoon boats, whalers).

Christine,

We had an ADR in Kona Cafe in the Polynesian but we didn't get the 3hr pass - just got in! At the Beach Club we just said we were heading to Beaches & Cream - once again no problem (think we may have got the 3hr pass there). Animal Kingdom and Wilderness Lodge once again no problem just the 3hr pass which was certainly long enough.

Maybe they liked the Irish accent - it can do wonders!!!!! :rotfl:

I bet that's what it was. I work with a couple of Australians and they get EVERYTHING because of their accent! One guy just got a great deal on Lasik Eye Surgery because the doctor "liked his Aussie accent.":confused3

We had no problems getting into the All Star Resorts when we told them we were visiting someone staying there. We had to show our ID but didn't have to tell them who we were visiting. We parked the car and walked around the resort while we waited for friends to get back.

I've parked at Beach Club, AKL, CSR, and Boardwalk without ADR's. Just took ID and either gave me a 3 hour parking pass or waived me through, depending. No problems at all.
