Staying offsite, ADRs and MDE

My friend is staying offsite this year and I have been helping her to plan certain areas of her holiday, but have never stayed offsite.

How should she go about booking ADRs?

Should she register with MDE, so she can book online? And does she need a specific type of Disney ticket in order to be able to book ADRs on MDE?

To book ADRs online she will need a MDE account but there are no ticket requirements for booking ADRs. She will be able to book each one from 180 days before the date she wants to eat
