I have a question, even though we are staying off-site are we able to ride the monorails and look at the resorts?

I know last year when my BF's family was staying onsite and the BoardWalk Villas and we drove there we had to give our name and his mom's name before they would let us in.

You can visit any resort and eat at any resturant. They also have shops you may enjoy.

you should be able to visit any resort (and use the monorail). If you do some resort hopping, don't forget to visit the AKL. That's a great resort. And, if you get a chance, have supper at Boma!

As an off-site guest you basically still have all of the same access as On site guests do.

You just get 3 hours on the resort instead of unlimited (if you drive to it).. If you monorail or bus to a resort, you can stay as long as you like.

You can ride the monrail.

You can use Disney Bus transportation from park to park and resort to resort if you like.

Keep in mind that visiting and parking are two different things. You can use all WDW Transportation and visit all WDW resorts. If you drive to a resort, however, you will need to go past a security gate, where they will want to know why you're there - "just looking around" is a good enough answer. Since some folks realized that they could park for free at the Polynesian and avoid MK parking altogether, some resorts have time-limited parking passes.

Note: I'm less certain about whether or not they'll let you drive into a DVC resort just to look around....
