Staying off-site over the weekend

I'm looking for recommendations as to where to stay on a weekend in Orlando. In order for my brother to get a good rate on air fare, he needs to fly in to MCO on a Wed. or Thurs. and out the next week on a Wed. or Thurs. & we don't want to use weekend points. What have some of you done in circumstances like this?

Bonnet Creek....two night minimum, decent price and on-property with a shuttle over to WDW if wanted/needed.

Orange Lake - can book as a hotel stay through Holiday Inn - one night minimum and fair prices, depending on season and availability, especially the smaller units.

Second Gaylord Palms Extremely convenient to WDW.

Also have bid WDW area on Priceline ( Resort Level only !!! ) and have gotten Omni Resort at Championsgate for about 1/3 of best online rate I could find. It is about 15 minute drive from WDW but a very beautiful resort.

I've "won" Gaylord Palms, Omni Championsgate, and the DTD Hilton -- all fine by me.

We always use Priceline or Hotwire to stay offsite. We go for 3-star or better properties and have never been disappointed.

we just stayed at the swan for $120/night.

great location in the EPCOT/Boardwalk resort area. access to disney transportation.

not sure how long they are running that rate but worth looking into

We usually stay at the Buena Vista Suites instead of paying for 2 sets of weekend points. It has a free hot breakfast buffet, a nice pool and is very clean and close to the world. Best of all it is a suite, so the kids can sleep while we relax in the sitting room.

I know when we go in August it is less than $100 per night.

I'll start by saying we always stay over the weekend using points but we stay in a studio and come for at least 9 nights.

For someone arriving on a Wed, I would seriously think about using cash to stay in a DVC room over the weekend. Otherwise, you stay 2 nights DVC, 2 nights off-site and then 3 or 4 more nights DVC. That would be more than I would be comfortable moving in a week long stay.

For a Th arrival, think about 3 nights off-site moving to a DVC for the remainder of the stay.

And once the OP's brother prices out the cost of paying for the hotel rooms, the flights for a Sunday arrival may seem a lot more reasonable.

We stayed at the Country Inn & Suites. Just a stone throw away from Universal and with a great breakfast buffet. A money saver.

If you are looking strictly for something cheap...we stayed at the Seralago. It was very inexpensive. It was also that trip that convinced me to join DVC

if you can get one - AKV value studio room - are pretty cheap with points on the weekend (cheaper than even OKW)
