Staying off-site?...can you still have a dessert party?

I had a dessert party for my own wedding back in 2005 but it was done through DFTW and we stayed on property. However, my brother is getting married next year at Celebration Golf Club and everyone is staying off-site but he would love a fireworks dessert party. So my questions are 1) Can you still book a dessert party when not having a DFTW? 2) If yes, can you still do this even if you're not staying on-site? 3) Also, would the bride be able to wear her dress?

Sorry for so many questions in one post.

it doesn't matter that you aren't staying onsite you can still have a DP. I'm not sure if the bride would be able to wear her dress though as its not a DFTW, I think you'd have to book it through the events people rather than DFTW as you wouldn't meet the minimums. If you do book it through the events people do not say its for a wedding as they tell you to ring DFTW.

You'd have to go through the events or catering department to book the DP.

Because it's not a wedding event planned through DFTWs the bride will not be able to wear her dress. I also agree with Chilly above, don't mention it's for a wedding. They may tell you to go through DFTWs and that'll just waste time explaining that you're not getting married through them.

Would the bride be allowed to wear her dress if she were to have her DP at Sago Cay and so therefore it is not in a park?

Unfortunately, the one requirement for doing a private event at WDW is that you be staying in a Disney owned hotel. Could one member of your party book a night at a Disney hotel so you qualify? I mean, I guess it would have to be the person who's coordinating the party....

The bride can wear her dress anywhere on Disney property except inside the theme parks.

Yes—anywhere but the theme parks. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone!

I will have to speak with my brother about booking a night in one of the Disney hotels - wedding night, maybe?...that would actually be a really nice idea  I suppose it depends on how much they want to do the DP, they seem like they really want to do it though.

Lurkyloo -not sure if you know the answer to this but I was also telling my brother about the Grand 1 just in case the DP didn't work out...would they be able to book this if not stopping on property and would the bride be able to wear her dress on the yacht?

I didn't know that! I learn something new everyday on these boards.

Anyone can book the yacht—you don't need to be staying on property. And yes, the bride can wear her dress. Could be a good alternative!

And Disney *changes* stuff every day too! :rotfl:

Thanks so much for your help :thumbsup2 My SIL2B will be so happy that there's now a couple of options where she can see Wishes and be in her dress too!

Lurkyloo - off topic but I just happened to click into your links and absolutely LOVED what you did for your anniversary, we had our wedding back in Sept 2005 and had the DP on the UK Lower Terrace. I've always wanted to have another DP to celebrate our anniversary...next year could be that year, I'm sure I could convince hubby :rolleyes1

Thanks again! :)

I didn't know this either. We are staying on property the night before and night of our wedding, but I wanted a DP 2 nights before as a welcome event. Wonder if I could still do this, or do you have to be physically staying at Disney on the day of the private event? Sorry if that sounds like a dumb question.

Are you having a DFTW?
