Hi. I have a "regular" reservation followed by a DVC reservation. I have booked such that it is the same resort & room type.

Has anyone had any luck in staying in the same room the whole time when they have booked like this?

If you booked your cash portion through MS, then yes they can link them together so you can stay in the same villa.

If you booked it through CRO, however, then they cannot be linked. You can ask if you can remain in the same room, but most likely you will have to change rooms. At the very least, either way you will have to go down and checkout and check back in to your new reservation.

I'd call DVC Member Services and explain what's going ona nd see what they suggest. It is my understanding that they do try and keep people in the same room when possible. I know it is 2 different booking types, but somehow either DVC or the resort itself has to have access to both reservations. If Member Services at DVC can't help you, I might try calling the resort directly.

We just did this on our recent stay @ SSR. To confuse the matter even more, we had 4 different reservations. We had one DVC reservation for first 5 days then a "regular" reservation for the weekend then another DVC reservation for 4 more nights (all 1br), then booked a studio for final night. The SSR front desk was amazing in that they kept us in the same 1br for 3 different ressies (had to go to front desk and check-in 3X) and then when I went bright & early (around 7am) to checkin to our studio they found one that was empty in the building directly across from the one we were in, so we were able to move by 8am for the final night's stay. Very easy!
