Our family of 5 will be staying for a week at FW arriving 6/3/06. My children are in there 20's so do not need Character Restaurant. We have been 3 times to WDW and have eaten at CG, Japan, Italy, Mexico, Sci-Fi, RFC, Boatright Dining (all wonderful) plus lots of counter service restaurants. We have ressie for HDDR the first night we arrive. Will bring some meals already cooked and put in the Freezer. Can anyone give any suggestions of restuarants to make resssie before we leave. Thanks!

You might want to check out the retaurant board you will find a lot of great idea there.

Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club. They offer what is called the "Clam Bake" in the evening. Whole lot more than clams(which frankly I'm not really a fan of)...very enjoyable. My family and I eat there every time we go to Disney. It is especially nice to follow it up with a walk into Epcot from this location. You enter through the World Showcase Entrance..and we do this to take a leisurely stroll through the countries and catch the Illuminations light show. Nice way to end the evening. The food itself is plentiful and good at he Cape May..the Beach Club is a gorgeous resort. Both inside and out..worth the trip alone to see it. I know you mentioned that you don't need character meals..but I will tell you that we don't miss the Cape May for breakfast either. It does have characters...at a very relaxing pace..they goof around with you, and it offers one of the best breakfasts in Disney. You can also take a water launch into MGM from this location. We general try to include one of those parks along with our trip to the Beach Club. :thumbsup2

You are probably right that I should ask this question in the Restaurant Board. The reason why I asked this question here was because we are all campers and most of us will have cooking facilities in which the hotel rooms do not. So if we eat out a few times it will be a really special place. I have read alot of the Restaurant boards, but I value the opinion of this board. Any help will be greatly appeciated. Thanks!

There is a buffet restaurant attached to the Hoopdee ..Trails End, that is
great and then you can sit in a rocker on the porch and watch the electric water parade after dinner, very nice. At the campground you are also pretty close to Wilderness Lodge so I would say hop over there and go to Whispering Canyon. Have a magical trip.

for a nice inexpensive meal onsite at FW i love the trails end. buffet, but if you are big eaters, a great value. (food is similar to the hoop dee doo though, so you might or might not want the same thing over again.)

we love the whispering canyon at WL, but with the kid element and hi-jinks, it might not be your groups thing.

we also dig Spoodels (sp?) at the boardwalk.

we are dying to try Le Cellier and California Grill - more upscale, less of a kiddy feel.

also - if you are interested in a relaxing night off property - or a killer take out wings, try Gators Dockside. http://www.gatorsdockside.com/index.htm they have several locations near WDW and they have such a varietly of wings(grilled or breaded and gobs of sauce choices - our fav is the lemon pepper grilled). a sports bar atmosphere.

Thanks so much to everyone for the input. I did make reservations in Japan at the Teppanyaki Grill, that is one of our favorites. I also made ressie for FDP at MaMa Melrose but they only had 5:00pm for Dinner. I think I may cancel it and do something else. We will definitely try Trails End. Still trying to figure if I need any other ressie with the food we are bringing.
Thanks Again!

We really like both the restaurants at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Boma & Jiko. If you've never been to the resort, it's worth a trip just to check it out!

Boma is a buffet (no characters) and has something for almost everyone. It can get loud and crowded, but the food is worth it!

Jiko is more upscale. It's also more expensive. We found the service to be wonderful, and we loved the food.

The restaurant board will have comments about both. We make it a point to go over to AKL to eat when we are in WDW.

Try Whispering Canyon. Our last trip with a group of 9 from 15 to 70, we had so much fun! It is a hoot! You can walk over there during the day on the paved path and take the boat back to the campground.

whispering Canyon is great... one of our favorites... all you can eat skillet is what we get and it is wonderful.... also in Epcot china has a wonderful sampler platter is also one of our favorite places. '

Trails End buffet is really good. Its in Fort Wilderness, we have eaten there several times.

Our kids are older too, I would recommend the Hoop de do reveue. We all LOVED it. We also loved O'hana's at the Polynesian. We just got home yesterday and we went to O'hana's this past Friday night. It was our first time, we will go back! :)

Wanted to agree with earlier posts about Whispering Canyon, Boma, Cape May, and Le Cellier.
