Let me start by saying that we purchased additional points at BWV through Disney on our last vacation. Yes I was able to talk DH into it. He likes BWV but was hesitant to ADD ON MORE POINTS. But we did it. Got a great incentive by also getting double the amount of points we purchased for one year. So this December we are going to stay at BWV. :cool1:

Now for the big question. I wished that when we had stayed at OKW for the first time we would have had some knowledge of where and where not to stay VS our needs and wants. We finally had it figured out after three vacations later.

We are going to take a standard view at BWV and will be staying in a 1br. I was wondering if anyone on here has any experience or opinions on where we should try to stay. Some of preferences are in this order

1. Have a very quiet room
2. Absolutely no view of parking lot or street (I know there are these views there but it just ruins our vacations if we have a view of the parking lot). It's a personal thing. We don’t mind a view of the pool and love views of water.
3. Like to be close to pool if possible.
4. Any floor but we would like to try top floor for a change.

We certainly realize that all these requests cannot be met but since we have never stayed there we really have no idea what to ask for. Can a person ask for a certain view or side? Can a person ask for a water view? Can a person ask for a certain area of a hallway etc?

Please keep in mind that we never walked in the hallways at BW. We have only gone through the lobby to get out to the boardwalk area. So you are talking to two complete rookies when it comes to BW. :confused3

Chances are that you are in trouble if you stay with a standard view. Mostly all of the standard view rooms have a view of the front entrance and/or the parking area. That's why they are standard view. If you had preferred view, in all liklihood you would have a view of the pool or a waterway. You should think about using more points and getting a preferred view. Better yet, call day by day at 11 months and get a guaranteed Boardwalk View and request an upper floor.

Thanks Happy Birthday Cat for your info.

Maybe we were informed wrong but we were told that preferred views are boardwalk views and standard views are those not facing the boardwalk. This was told to us by MS last year when we called and was placed on a waiting list for BW.

That's incorrect. There are 3 views reserved at BWV:

Boardwalk
Pool/Garden
Standard

Boardwalk and pool/garden are the same preferred view points on the chart. They used to be combined but about 2 or 3 years ago, they were split into separate reservation categories so that members would know up front what they were getting. There were many more boardwalk view requests than they could fill, so this avoids disappointment and check-in problems.

Standard view are the lower points on the chart.

Even though the standard views mostly face the front driveway and parking lots, they are not real close. Most face the back of Epcot (through the trees) and you can see the Illuminations fireworks, especially from the higher floors.

I forgot to ask this earlier but does one need to call day by day in order to get a boardwalk view. Or can one just call and make the reservation and ask for a boardwalk view? I dont know how fast those boardwalk views fill up for the first week in December.

Thanks LisaS I did check it out. I also called and was able to get a 1br pool view for week of Dec 3 - Dec 8. We are wait listed for a Boardwalk view for two days.

You might want to rethink the BWView if you want a very quiet room. While we didn't find the noise overwhelming with our BWView - we found it noticeable all evening - and into the night. In fact, the BW area is not very quiet anywhere, but the BW View is louder than some of the other choices. I'd be tempted to ask for a room overlooking the community hall - I think that is your best chance of quiet - Luna Park can also be quite noisy.
