Hi. Hubby and I are planning a honeymoon trip to WDW for Jan. 2008, and are flying in from my parents home in TN (cheaper than flying from our home in VA). We'll be arriving at the resort rather late (well after 10pm) so we're planning to stay at POP for the first night to save money and then switch to AKL for the remainder of our stay the next morning (anyone know how early can you check out/in?).

For those who have stayed at multiple resorts in one trip, how did you get everything (luggage) from one resort to the other if you weren't driving? Do you just use the regular WDW busses, or can you use the Magical Express shuttle that goes between the resorts and the airport? Or does Disney have some sort of luggage transfer program (I'm doubting it, but who knows, it is Disney)?

I know the busses get very crowded, but I'm not sure if you can use the shuttle unless you're specifically going to/from the airport. I'll ask the reservationist when I book if no one on here knows ... but you guys know everything! ;)

We stayed at All Star Sports one night and the next day we Stayed at the Poly. The resort transferred our luggage for us. We checked out of that hotel and took Disney transportation to the Magic Kingdom then hopped on the monalrail and then over to the Poly to check in. It worked out very well.

When you get to POP you have 2 choices :

1/Have them bring your luggage to you
2/Tell them to keep it overnight

(Personally I'd rather stick to packing whatever is really NEEDED in a small carry-on and have them keep our bigger bags - the place is secure).

The next morning, simply go to Luggage Services and tell them you want your luggage transferred to AKL. They will give you a receipt with your name a number on it. You can check in the other resort as early as 6am but you're not guaranteed a room until after 3pm.

Once you're in your room, call Luggage Services and give them the number on your receipt, they will bring the luggage to your room.

Moving luggage is very easy when doing split stays. Just remember that you may not get your room until 3 or 4pm, so if you need medecine or anything like that, keep it with you.

Hope this helps :) We're doing the exact same thing (POP/AKL) in October!

Oooh, so they do deal with the luggage, that's very convenient. I figured getting ourselves to AKL would be no problem, it was just doing it with two large suitcases and a carryon or two that posed a problem. Nice. :woohoo:

Marivaid said it perfectly and basically what we did when we moved from the Poly to ASMU.

To get from POP to AKL - take a bus to AK and the bus to AKL. Checkin and call to have your luggage deliver. A note: we were told not to expect our luggage to transfer before noon. And actually it arrived just as we did around 1:30pm...and they brought to the room immediately.

When I went from POFQ to the Poly the lovely bellperson offered to take us directly over with our luggage in the van. She said they do this kind of thing all the time but its better to only ask during a slow time. We checked out of POFQ about an hour and half before check-out time, so they weren't inundated with people at that time. When we checked into the Poly at about 10am, our room request was not only met, but it was ready for us already! We went right to our room with our luggage. Superb!

Leaving for Disneyland now...
