We are so excited for our first DVC stay in a few weeks and are staying in a studio. We are from CA and are having some groceries delivered, but also are packing cereal, snacks, etc.... Decided with the expensive cost of checking luggage ($20 each piece each way is ridiculous!) we want to do laundry and save some. I know that the studios do not have the washer/dryer in the room. Are they located by the pools or does the bldg have them?

Also...noticed that there are activities at each resort. I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of things they have at SSR for DVC members. We are looking for some different things to do besides killing ourselves at the parks for the ten days in the extreme heat.

We also have bene checking out the information on SSR and can't wait to stay. It looks beautiful and would love to know what other DISers LOVE about SSR.

I can't wait to hear the words "WELCOME HOME LAUBE FAMILY!!!!"

We love SSR and will be heading there this week to spend the 4th of July on our developer points! Can't wait!

There is a laundry room next to the community hall which is in very close proximity to the main pool. Laundry is free to DVC members. :) Most afternoons there are activities for the kids at the main pool area which can range from a dance party to trivia games, etc. Usually one night a week they show a movie at the main pool as well.

Enjoy your stay and Welcome Home Laube Family! :rotfl:

Community Hall also has activities scheuduled daily - indoors- arts and crafts stuff - ceramics some have a small fee but most are free. Also there is ping pong and another table game - can't remember now. Video games and movies to borrow. We were really excited about all the little options there were and especially on really hot days one of these maybe a great idea!!!

We stayed at SSR in a studio, on developer points in April. It was our first trip "home". :goodvibes

There are also washer/dryer facilities near the smaller "community" pools. They do have coin drawers, but they are free. Just load the machine up and slide in the empty coin drawer, and off they go. :thumbsup2

Although we were there for 2 weeks, we didn't really do any of the activities this time around. We did enjoy hanging out by the pools and watched one of the poolside movies one evening. :goodvibes

The resort is beautiful and we particularly liked the fact that we could walk over to DTD. Usually we took the boat ride back to the resort. :)

Can't wait to go back next year. :hippie:

You can visit the Community Halls at SSR and other DVC resorts too ( OKW at main pool area, BWV at villa's quiet pool & AKV at Kidani ). Most activities are walk-in, some may require pre-registration & sometimes a small fee; at check-in you will receive a list of what's scheduled at SSR or you can walk over to CH (located at High Rock Springs/main pool area) to find out. If you plan to visit a CH at anothe resort you may want to call there day or two beforehand to find out it if there's an activity that may require pre-registration. Also, at BWV on most Wednesday afternoon's at 4pm in Atlantic Dance Hall there's DVC's Welcome Home Wednesday event - it is more appropriate for adults ( DVC talk & some trivia/game, small DVC prizes ie key ring, hat ) but depending upon your kids ages they may want to sit in on it with you or maybe stay at CH while you attend.

Check this thread for some info on Community Hall activities at SSR & AKV in

As DVC members you may also pool hop to any WDW resort and to other DVC resorts except there is no pool hopping allowed to AKV-AKL and BCV-BC/YC . There are some block-out periods for pool hopping privilege so check the member website before your trip.

Have a great trip pixiedust: & :welcome: HOME !!!!!

ETA - just noticed you siggie; our sincere thanks to you for protecting our nation & freedom!

I'm on the phone booking our first stay at SSR with DVC DPs. I know there are some threads that talk about best location to stay, but can't find them.

We are doing water parks only and Downtown Disney stuff. What would be a good location to ask for to be near the best pool and playgrounds?

Thanks!

Lots of us like Grandstand for its splash area and easy access to the main area. It's also the first bus stop, but that may not matter if you're not heading to the parks.
The area closest to DTD (easy walk) is Congress Park -- request a DTD view. There is a leisure pool there that many love.

I'm sure you'll have a great visit no matter where you stay. ;)
