Staying at Riverside : Show me pics, get me excited!!

Hi
Anyone got any pics of the refurb rooms? Are they rooms for 5 people bigger?

Thanks x

The room refurbishment at Riverside is in its early stages as of now. There is a concept photo of the Royal rooms that will be in Oak Manor and Paterre Place on the first page of the POR FAQ thread, but that's it for now. Alligator Bayou has rooms for up to 5 people, which is made possible by a trundle bed in addition to the two double beds that will become queens during the refurbishment.

If you look at Disney's website, for bookings for next year, they list the trundle bed is located in some AB rooms, but indicate the beds are doubles.

They indicate queens in all of the other rooms.

Only time will tell.

I suppose we'll just have to wait and see. Unless changing to queens interferes with maintaining the 5-person advantage by use of trundle beds, then I can't see why they wouldn't. But only time will tell, yes.

Here are some photos of our first trip to WDW in March 2006. We haven't been back to POR since then but I am hoping to go back for my surprise trip for the kids in December. Some of these I posted on the FAQ page, but a couple are new. The last one is of my family (as they looked in 2006)...notice the happy faces (still smiling after 11 days...Disney Magic!!).

We stayed at POR during the marathon weekend in January. I wandered around and took a bunch of pictures while DH ran the race.

The time can't go fast enough for me......love the pics!!!

wow, I am getting homesick for POR! We stayed there in Oct of 2008 and the entire family was hooked. Honestly I thought it beat CBR hands down. We are back to Disney next week at the Swan as I have work meetings there. Turned them into a 5 day family trip (cause that is what Disney does to ya!) I hope we enjoy the Swan as much as we loved POR :( Thanks for sharing the pictures, its EXACTLY as I remember and loved.

Loving the pictures! Keep them coming!!

Can anyone compare the walk from Magnolia to the food court with Jamaica and the food court at CBR? Will probably stay here next summer and trying to decide whether or not to go preferred. I thought the walk from Jamaica to the food court at CBR was a little too inconvenient.

Thanks!

Can't wait to see pictures of the new refurbed mansions (not the royal rooms!) Please share if you've got them!!!

There are a few (very dark) pictures on the POR thread on the resort boards. They were taken through a window with the lights off. We are not that pleased with the outcome of the standard rooms. They don't look near as nice as POFQ. No one has been able to snag pics of the Royal themed rooms.

If anyone does, please post them on the POR thread on the resorts board, or send them to Andre at portorleans.org - he is hoping to snag some soon to keep us all up to date.

Ugh just looked at that thread. Kinda a bummer. We have stayed at POR twice as of now, going for our third in 35 days. The first time we stayed in acadian house, the second and last time we went we were in AB. I was going to try and try to get a refurbed room for when we go next month (not the royal rooms obviously) but now Im not so interested. I think Ill just stick with AB again for this year if the refurbed rooms are a bust.

We had a preferred corner room and it was a very short walk to the food court and the bus stop.

Does anyone know if there are any new activities going on at POR? I saw earlier someone posted saying they had movies or something? Just curious whats going on over there from the last time I left

I've enjoyed the POR info. I'm a WL girl who got an incentive to stay at POR for two nights before transferring to WL for 9 days. SO excited to finally get to experience the holidays at Disney!!!

This is an awesome thread, as we will have to go here now (which I am totally psyched about) instead of BC due to finances.
I am on page 10 only so forgive me if this has been addressed.
Can anyone equate the worst walk here to the main building/pool here to anywhere at CBR or CSR (resorts I know). For example, if we do not get a preferred and end up the farthest away, is it as bad as walking from the Ranchos at CSR to Pepper Market, or is it more like Barbados to OPR at CBR. Just trying to get a feel for what I want to do here. Thanks.
