Staying at Riverside : Show me pics, get me excited!!

Thank you everybody for posting such great pics! We're going Jan 1, 2009 and I feel I can't wait! POR looks sooo nice! That said, this is our first trip and I think we would be thrilled regardless of the resort.

You really will LOVE it! It's such a pretty resort!

The only shot I've got uploaded right now!:

Stayed there a few years back, but I recycle the shots in my gallery often and don't have any of those older shots still uploaded. I'll have to dig through and see if I've got any worth reuploading.

Beautiful grounds at Riverside...I need to make a point of going back there with intent to take more scenic photographs!

Check out the first picture in the album! Good angle!

I'm so glad I found this thread today. We had to switch from POFQ to POR due to AP discount availablitiy, so I've been trying to convince myself that it was a wise decision. This thread has definitely put my mind at ease!!
I do have a question I'm hoping someone can answer. We don't take the buses, but prefer to drive to the parks. Are there parking lots behind each of the different buildings, or will we have to park in one central lot and then possibly have to walk a far distance to our room?

Each section has its own parking lots. You may be farther from your particular room just because it's such a big resort, but not from your building or section. You should be fine.

See my post #439 for the map and it shows parking. Like zackiedawg said, you should be fine.

I apologize, I haven't read through all 30 pages. Are there any photos of king rooms at POR? And do they have kings in both AB and mansions?

I'll contribute a couple of pics cause I like them but hated the resort. Just curious why you need to get excited when this will be your third time at POR ???

Hi
thinking of an Oct trip and have only stayed at the CBR (first time)
why did you hate the resort?? :confused3

we are a family of three and are thinking that the boat to DTD etc will give us a completely different experience

curious to know

thanks

L

The boat goes to POFQ and DTD only. It is a bus to everything else. I have read the boat is a beautiful ride. Check out portorleans.org :)

I know this has been discussed but I am wondering- are there specific pros and cons between the mansions vs the other rooms? I understand its personal preference :rolleyes1 but there have to be some differences

seems like the other rooms are more rustic vs elegant in the mansions not sure either one is more less appealing to us, my 8 yr old DD thinks the word MANSION is clearly indicitive of a better time ;) but what would we be giving up and what would make it that much better?

also- if you request mansion is it guareenteed?

thanks all

can't wait to come back!!

Everytime I book a trip to WDW I think I am going to try another resort and then it's just impossible. The one thing that really makes a difference for us is the quiet. It's just so quiet and I know the resort is full.

The other thing is the boat ride to DTD. What a way to travel. So very relaxing, something new to see with every ride.

In the AB section, on the second floor, I always feel like we are in a treehouse. So lush and green.

In January I booked POFQ  I hope it is equally as beautiful.

This was our room 1756, and as you can see there is a king size bed.

This is room 1716 and it had a king size bed, but we did not like the location.

Thanks everyone for the great pictures and info! We'll be staying at POR in November. Has anyone stayed during the middle of November? I am slightly worried about how cool the weather will be. Was last in WDW about 6 years ago in April and the weather was unseasonably cool then - froze to death at Typhoon Lagoon :scared1:

Can't wait to get to POR!

Any specific / unusual POR picture requests, let me know here and I'll try to snap them while I'm here if I can.

Andre

I was wondering if anyone can tell me which buildings the handicapped rooms are in? I have one reserved with a roll in shower. Thanks for all the wonderful info and photos. :cool1:

P.S. We are going Oct. 18-25
