We are thinking of renting my mom (74) a scooter for a trip next Dec. She had a hard time walking last month. If we have a scooter and are staying at the POP do we have to reserve a handicap room? There are usually 5 of us and we normally get 2 connecting rooms. 3 stay in one room and 2 in the other.

Is Walker Mobility a good company to rent from? Also about how long do the batteries last?

This is all new for us. Thanks for the help.

Doorways are the same in all rooms, it's just the bathrooms accommodations that are different. So unless your mother has need for accommodations in the bathrooms (roll-in shower, etc.), you do not need to reserve an accessible resort room. You/she will be able to park the scooter in a regular room.

Enjoy your vacation!

If you charge the battery all night while you sleep, you should have no problem running the scooter all day. Walker is a good company. Before I got my own scooter I used them many times. There was times when I used scooter from 6am to midnight on a charge.

Actually an accessible room may not have as much space as a standard room. All the rooms at the Value resorts are 260 sq ft including the bathroom and dressing area. An accessible room trends to have a larger bathroom than a standard, so the sleeping area tends to be smaller.

It doesn't really matter honestly. I only prefer a handicapped room because of the walk-in shower and removable shower handle extension. Walker is a decent company, but I also like Buena Vista and Care Medical. The battery charge depends on the scooter rented and weight of the rider. Typically, they'll go all day without any issues, just be sure to charge them at night. I purchased a Pride Revo for myself after using it in the parks from a rental company because of its incredible battery life. I could go 3 days on that thing without charging it.

If the table is in the way you can ask them to come remove it for your stay too.
