This might have been discussed at some point in the past... do any of you frequent Fort campers go to Disney and ever NOT stay at FW? That is, do you ever switch it up once in a while and stay at another resort on property?

The reason I'm curious is because I just got back from a stint at Port Orleans Riverside, and ended up spending way more time bumming around Fort Wilderness than the actual resort I was paying to stay at. I missed it. I felt like I was two-timing the Fort. :ssst: We talked it over and agreed couples counseling is our best option to try and make things work... that and a romantic weekend together in March.

Anyone else have feelings of remorse/guilt/intense boredom/general dissatisfaction when staying at a WDW resort other than Fort Wilderness?

We've also stayed at Port Orleans, All Star Music, and Wilderness Lodge (which is our resort of preference) but we always venture over to FW.. it does get addictive..

Yep stayed at just about every place to stay on site at Disney I love Animal Kingdom Lodge :thumbsup2 But I like the cabins at the fort better.

We have been to the fort for the last 4 yrs for our Christmas vacation's
and hope to again this yr :thumbsup2

Hope to soon buy a camper and then we could go over for the weekend's.

Ron.

Staying at another resort would be like cheating on The Fort!

We have stayed at other resorts as I go to conventions every year with work and we stay where the convention is being held. But for our annual family vacation there is no place like our home at Fort Wilderness!!

:woohoo:

We stay at the Values quite often. We did a week for Free Dining in August, and since I still work, we do frequent weekend warrior trips. Pulling the camper 690 miles for Fri-Sunday just doesn't work for us.

We look for Ding fares on SW and Passholder rates at the Values, and often fly down on Friday night, and fly home on Sunday.

A couple of times this year, we decided on Friday morning that we wanted to go to Disney for the weekend. I bagged work early, we found a good deal on a cheap hotel on 192 and hit the road!!

But there hasn't been a trip in a couple years that we didn't at least visit the Fort, especially this year to keep an eye on all the changes, and hunt down Fort Fiends!!

I like your style.:worship:

We are DVC members so our week long fall trips are to DVC resorts then the spring 2 week trips are FW. We enjoy doing both but are sometimes torn, it costs as much to fly down as it does for diesel fuel to drive down.

BRAD!!!!!! Ive been wondering about you......have you been alright? Were you locked up in prison again????;)

We've been camping at the fort over 20 years. Prior to that we stayed at several of the Disney hotels. 5 years ago we went to WDW for a quick trip to attend our son's wedding and stayed at POR. We were miserable there! We missed the fort so much. I never want to stay anywhere else on the property again!

Last year we sold our TT after a 12 day stay at the Fort. Since we had annual passes, we went during the summer twice. Stayed at All-Star Movies, Contemporary, and Port Oleans French Quarter. All were fine but after the last trip, we vowed not to return until get another RV and stay at the Fort.

It just isn't the same.:confused3

we are just the opposite.........we go just about every year, and almost always stay at The Shades of Green, and a few of the others, but this year, will be our first stay at The Fort......we cant wait, and by looking at pics and listening to everyone here, it looks like we will never see the inside of Shades of Green again........(crossing fingers.....lol)

A couple of years ago we couldn't get a full week in February around President's Day at FtW. We could only get 4 days afterward so we tried to get 2 nights somewhere else. :confused3

We finally succeeded in getting Animal Kingdom Lodge and loved its theming. It was very expensive however and was one of those once in a lifetime type deals. We had a Savannah room where we could sit and watch the Giraffe and other animals from our balcony. FtW is our home away from home. Nothing else beats it for the price, amenities and just shear fun. :thumbsup2

I would say that I enjoy FW and WL almost equally. When we stay at FW we spend a lot of time at WL....and vice versa. I love to read in the lobby or one of the reading nooks at WL.

We have stayed at CBR for a short stay. While it was nice, I felt it lacked the theme touches that I expected from Disney.

My in laws own a time share in a very nice complex across from Arabian Nights. We stayed there last year, and I absolutely hated it. I vowed to never return even though it is a free place to stay. IMHO, if you stay off property you miss too much.

:lmao:

No, I've been laid off for the last 8 months and haven't had the willingness to get on. Now I'm back to work so I have the computer set up again to see what my friends have been up to. Nice to know I have been missed. :)
