My friend (also a DVCer) just tried to book a room at Coranado Springs and they wanted to charge her $95. I thought that was only for non Disney hotels. Did it change or was it always thaty way?

That changed late last year or early this year. The $95 transaction fee is charged for any non-DVC resort reservation with the current exemption of Disneyland.

Thats CRAZY!!! :headache:
Thanks for letting me know.

We are in the process of seriously considering buying into DVC, and the way our Guide described this to us is that DVC is it's own operating company. In order for them to make a reservation for us at a non-DVC onsite resort, they'd have to "sell" our points to get cash to pay for our room at the other resort-- much like they would have to do with Interval International. It requires similar effort, time, paperwork, etc. When looked at that way, I can understand. I don't like it :) , but I understand.

they get more than enough by renting the points.

the $95 is for the bottom line at DVC. and punishment for going outside the dvc resorts.

besides a moderate resort costs as much as 1-bedroom at OKW and AKV - would prefer them to the moderate hands down.
