So we our taking our FIRST summer trip...we have been once in 03, 04, 06, 07 and 08. (always in the fall)..each of those times we have stayed at a Family Suite at the Paradise Pier OR the DL Hotel.... (we have a child with a disability and need extra space)

We are FINALLY going back but just cannot afford a suite or two rooms at the Disney Prop hotels....we have 2 rooms reserved for Ho JO Anaheim and I am getting nervous...PLEASE tell me this place isn't a dump! LOL!

It isn't a dump. Many people from the Dis boards love HoJos. I've stayed there a few times and I've never had a problem. They have always been helpful, the rooms are clean and big. If there were problems you would read about them on these boards. But HoJo is a great place. They have a great pool area as well. You could always call them and voice your concern. You will have a great time in a good hotel close to the park. Have fun! :goodvibes

It's the only place we stay if we can help it. Our kids love the little water park area and the garden pool is wonderful as well. The staff have always been excellent and the rooms are spacious and clean.

One of my favorite things to do when we stay there is sit in the hot tub and watch the fireworks.

I don't think the walk is bad at all, probably similar to the walk from Paradise Pier. It really is a great place to stay when you don't want to spend as much as you would on property.

There's a really great restaurant next door, Mimi's Cafe. If you sign up for their emails they send you a coupon for a free breakfast, plus other coupons almost weekly. We love stopping there for breakfast before hitting the parks. Reasonable prices and huge portions, plus the food is pretty delicious.

It's the only hotel I'll stay at off site :) It's great, love it!! Highly recommended

Oh we just love the HoJo!!! It is our #1 choice when visiting Anaheim. We stay in building 1 in the premium Disney view rooms & they are clean, comfy & quite large. The property is nice and the staff is wonderful!! :)

I have stayed there 5 times since 9/2011. I love it!

Its not a dump- very nice. I absolutely love the kids suites. Its a bummer you couldn't get one. I was less happy with the 2Double rooms- not a fan of the 2-story buildings, but some people love them so it just depends.

I'd call the front office and see what they can do to get you more room- maybe a ground floor room with a private (enclosed) patio? Or maybe a kids suite will open up- those are just amazing for families. Give them a call if you are nervous- they will make you feel better.

Hojo's is great. It is not a new hotel or luxurious but the staff and beds are wonderful. I'm sure you will have a great time.

We absolutely loved our Kids Suite. Click on my review in my signature to read my very detailed review of our experience. Hojo is clean, spacious, and much better than I would expect for the price. Have a GREAT time and just think that you are saving HUNDREDS of dollars, if not over $1,000, that you can save for other expenses!

As previous posters have stated, you have nothing to be nervous about! The HoJo is great. While the rooms are not the newest and they do show their wear, the front desk staff is great, the beds are comfy, and the rooms are generally pretty clean. We truly consider it our home away from home! :goodvibes

Thanks all for the feedback....We have done Disney property hotels only..until this trip...and I just want it to be a nice place.

Your feedback makes me feel better.....

I plan on calling every day until we leave (july 29th) to see if there has been a cxl in a Kids Suite....

we booked DBL beds (2 rooms) because we needed connecting rooms. As of today..the hotel is booked.

Hi -

Please make sure to post your review/thoughts about Hojo when you return. I would be really interested to see what you think since you've only stayed at DL properties.

Hope you have a great trip! :goodvibes

I have stayed many times at the HoJo and always have found it clean and the staff accommodating. Of course, it is not the same as staying onsite, but it is a nice hotel -better than another I stayed at offsite for sure.

You will have a great time! Don't worry at all!

Kim

After doing a ton of research we chose the HoJo for our trip this summer. Previously we have stayed at the anabella, the HoJo, and the portofino. I am looking forward to being closer to the park and the water area for the kids.

Another recommendation for the Hojo. It was our third visit, the last being three years ago.
We had Rooms 23 and 24 in Building 2 which were at the end of the corridor. These suited us so well because our doors were not in sight of other rooms and we could nip back and forth between the rooms and not worry too much about looking presentable.
On the day we were leaving, we checked out of one room and kept the other for an extra night, as we were not going to the airport until early evening.
At reception when my husband went to pay, the second room was offered as a late checkout and we were refunded half the cost for that day.
When we arrived, our key cards were programmed so that we could use them for both rooms. This was not something we would have thought to ask for, so it was nice to have it offered.
We chose not to have our rooms serviced each day, and on each occasion there was a message on the phone from Housekeeping, to tell us to contact them if there was anything we required.
And the windows of the corridor offered a view of the fireworks on the nights we didn't want to return to the park.
These were some of the small bonuses that helped make our stay so enjoyable.
