Staying at Hampton Inn instead of Fairfield to add days to trip- worth it?

What do you think? Right now, including taxes, we are paying $411 to stay 3 nights at Fairfield Inn. For that same price, we can get 4 nights at the Hampton Inn, or 5 nights for $511. But, it means we'd have to pay for the ART, not sure what that costs, and I need to check if parking is free. It would include breakfast though.

Anyone have an opinion on the Hampton Inn? I know staying within walking distance is an unofficial rule of DLR, but what if it means the diff between 2 days in the park vs 5? Wasting that extra time waiting for trams might be worth it right?

Is this the Hampton Inn & Suites in Garden Grove? The parking is $12 a day. This one has good reviews. They have 4 out of 5 circles. People rave about the breakfast, it has hot items on it. This is also close to a lot of good restaurants so it gives you dining options.

We have often stayed at resorts not in walking distance and most of them had shuttles that went to the park so it was no big deal. The costs was worth it. Also they are usally nicer hotels than the ones within walking distance too. To me it is worth getting 2 more days to play.

Ugh, parking IS $12 a day, I just checked. That totally stinks.

ETA: Okay, I just called Get Away Today. She said they have a contract with the Hampton, and the parking fee is waived if I book through them. Just thought I'd post that info in case anyone else was fretting about the parking fee.

I was just getting ready to post that I have never paid a 12 dollar parking fee.. but i have also always booked through Getwawaytoday. I happen to love this hotel. When we go we ususaly get the suite with the bunk beds and I have to tell you the bed at this hote is marvelous and comfy. and the continental breakfast is nice too and also offers some hot items.

We stay at the Homewood Suites in Garden Grove and drive to the parks. The HS is a Hilton property just like the Hampton Inn. The HS waives the $12/day parking fee if you stay 6+ nights. We booked thru AAA and will have free parking at the DLR. It is a little bit of a pain parking in the M&F garage and going to wait in line for the trams to the park entrance. But, we think the small inconvenience is WAY worth the free hot deluxe cont breakfast and the nice, big rooms. We are in Seattle so already used to the Pacific time and it is hard to get up early to be at the parks for opening. Having brkfst before we go actually saves us time and lets us get right to riding when we get in the park. We also have a full kitchenette in our room with a full size fridge so we have groceries for pack lunches at the parks and we bring our own drinks (just stick them in a cooler in the stroller). This saves us a lot of money.

It is up to you but I would absolutely book the Hampton and get the longer stay and free brkfst.

Be sure to check out ART rates. WHen we use to stay at Embassy Suites on Harbor it was $3.00 per person per day. I think there is a discount if purchasing four or more days. Just be sure to add this to your budget!
