Any suggestions on where to stay at the Grand Floridian? We are going over Thanksgiving and wondered what building, floor or room number should we try and ask for.

Thanks,
Marc

Are you staying at VGF, there is only one building? Have you reserved a standard view or a lake view?

It depends on what you want to see- standard views either have a view of the grounds with a little to more water, or a straight on view of the monorail. The rooms go up to the 6th floor (not for straight monorail view though). So it depends on what you want to see. We have had mainly 6th floor rooms and we like the higher views.

You might want to check out the VGF Villas and Views thread to get an idea of what the different standard view areas look like from their balcony.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3192814 Post 2, has a list of villa numbers indicating which are standard or Lake view. Just click on the standard views to see how they very. Keep in mind they are standard views so some of them will be very limited (or in the case of one villa, practically no view at all since it looks out to the back of the point roof of the porte cochere.

We were on the first floor and had a beautiful lake view....I was a little disconcerted to see the some nicks and wear and tear in the one bedroom that we stayed in. Overall, it is gorgeous and it may have just been our unit, but it is showing wear. I don't know how to post pictures or I would do so...

We had a 2BR on the 6th floor right behind the elevator and were able to watch Wishes from our balcony. We thought it was a perfect standard view. My only request was upper floor.

We requested high floor when we had 2 bedroom lakeview and got 2nd floor. I thought views were not worth the points and I am a balcony dweller. The unit itself seemed small living/kitchen area. I can't see myself staying there again but at least I checked it off the list.

We were in a 1 bdrm standard view (booked at 7 month window) last January (2014). We were on 4th floor .....the Spa was slightly to our right and Wedding Chapel was to our left....great views of resort monorail. Loved VGF and will definitely stay again....if we can get reservations at 7 month window in future. Honestly, the ONLY request I ever make is a high floor....in our 13 years of ownership I've only been disappointed once....at BCV and it flavored my impression of BCV so much that we didn't go back for 8 years!! However, my impression was improved last month on our first return trip back to BCV!! We got our high floor request this time!

Thanks - any elevator lobby noise?

Did you do early check in and request the lake view then or did you request lake view at arrival?

Just left studio, lake view, 3rd floor. Lovely and great views of Seven Seas Lagoon, Poly, the Wedding Pavilion, CR, the monorail in the distance, and the boat dock at MK if we leaned out a bit. Couldn't quite see Wishes, but that was definitely offset by the other pluses. :thumbsup2

We stayed in studio 1314 and highly recommend that wing LV as it affords a great view of MK and the lake, and right now hides the Poly construction. This was actually given to us as we arrived (last days in March, first days in April) and the room requested was not ready, but concierge called and offered us the room citing the construction as well as the fact that we were staying 7 days and I guess at that time most folks were staying for a fewer days Truthful or not, we loved the location of the room and would ask for that again without a second thought. There are only 3 rooms on that wing facing the lake for each floor and are (where n is the floor) 1n18 - 2BR, 1n16 - 1BR, 1n14 - Studio.
